Full or mini abdominoplasty types
Like many women after having children they are left with loose excess skin. The only way to have this removed is with an abdominoplasty.
Many women seem to get caught up on the term mini abdominoplasty versus full abdominoplasty. It is very rare that a woman would benefit from a limited incision tummy tuck.
The vast majority of women, particularly after having children, need a regular abdominoplasty. I recommend that you see a board certified plastic surgeon in consultation to get more specific answers to your questions which can best be addressed after a thorough history and examination is performed. Mini or full tummy tuck types
look at the area around your belly button. if the hooding and laxity at the level of the belly button and above bother you, then I would recommend a full abdominoplasty. from the one photo you submitted it looks like the muscle layer is weak above and below the belly button, so I would recommend a full. consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who performs this regularly for a consultation. Good Morning and thank you for your question and picture. Based on your photo you appear to be an excellent candidate for a full abdominoplasty. A mini abdominoplasty is a good procedure for someone who has only a small amount of loose skin below the belly button or some bulging muscle that is limited to below the belly button.
While a ‘mini abdominoplasty’ sounds appealing because it is a ‘smaller’ procedure, most individuals seeking improvement in their belly area are not good candidates for a mini abdominoplasty.
It is important to remember that the best operation is the one that will get you the optimal result and meet or exceed your expectations. While most of the time it is the full tummy tuck, excellent results can be obtained with a mini tummy tuck for the right patient! (Louis DeLuca, MD, Palm Beach Plastic Surgeon)
Abdominoplasty mini or full types?
Looking at your belly photo it appears that you have excess skin of the lower abdomen that extends to your flanks. This would need to be confirmed with a formal exam but you would likely benefit from a full or possibly mini abdominoplasty.
When there is significant skin looseness I personally prefer a full abdominoplasty which gives me more ability to contour the abdomen and flank areas. Your surgeon will help you make your decision. Make sure to see a board certified PS. (Gaurav Bharti, MD, Johnson City Plastic Surgeon)
