Safety first when considering multiple procedures at the same time
There are many factors involved in the decision of whether or not combination surgery is safe or not. You have not supplied enough information for me to make this decision.
At the time of a consultation your plastic surgeon will evaluate your condition and make recommendations. Safety first. (Jeffrey Zwiren, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
That being said TT and breast surgery at the same setting is very common and is definitely not contraindicated. Whether lipo or TT is very dependent on your anatomy.
Don’t know the costs in NY. Most breast reductions are covered by insurance, if enough weight is taken off. You probably could return to work 2 weeks post surgery as long as you don’t have any complications. (Peter Fisher, MD, Peter Fisher, MD, San Antonio Plastic Surgeon)
Breast Reduction and Tummy tuck Surgery
You can definitely have both of these procedures done at the same time. Deciding between a tummy tuck and liposuction depends on whether you have excess fatty tissue and tight skin or if you have excess skin and stretch marks.
A tummy tuck can remove the excess skin while liposuction can sculpt the abdomen if the skin is tight. Most people take off 2-3 weeks for this type of combined surgery to go back to a light duty job. The cost including OR fee, Anesthesia, and surgeon’s care is about $10,000.(K. Roxanne Grawe, MD, K. Roxanne Grawe, MD, Columbus Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy tuck and reduction
I advise my TT and reduction patients to take 2 weeks off; a week is insufficient for several reasons-sutures still in place, anesthesia recovery and surgical healing. Whether these can safely be performed in one sitting is individualized.
If you have G-H cup breasts with a longer procedure and aren’t thin then it could go beyond the safety zone. The hospitals no longer allow hybrid procedures so if the breast reduction is covered by insurance, the TT has to be performed separately. Considering that these are major operations, this isn’t unreasonable.
Television and marketers have made Mommy Makeover seem like a walk in the park but it isn’t. See a board certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in these operations to evaluate and make a recommendation. (Robert L. Kraft, MD, Robert L. Kraft, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
Liposuction, Breast Reduction or Tummy Tuck – so called Mommy Make over?
A combination of surgeries that needs up to 6 hours of surgery which I suspect you will perhaps needs 10 days recovery time. Cost depends upon the country and the county where the surgery is performed. Here in Dubai with me it will range between 16000 – 20000 US dollars. (Ashok Govila, FRCS, MCh, MS, Ashok Govila, FRCS, MCh, MS, Dubai Plastic Surgeon)
It is possible to have two or three procedures done at the same time as long as it does not exceed 6 hours. The longer the procedure the higher the risk for complications. A mommy makeover usually takes between 4-5 hours depending on what is being performed.
If a tummy tuck is indicated you may need to take at least a week off work. The recovery is not that long for a breast reduction. It is difficult to give you specific advice unless you are examined by a Board certified Plastic surgeon. The cost also depends on what is being done and the length of the procedure. (Dana Khuthaila, MD, FACS, Dana Khuthaila, MD, FACS, New York Plastic Surgeon)
It seems like you are interested in a mommy makeover. Costs are difficult to give you without an examination as it is possible your breast reduction may be covered.
As for which procedure is best for your abdomen, I would suggest you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. (Rick Rosen, MD, Norwalk Plastic Surgeon)
Breast reduction and body contouring.
It is hard to answer your questions without seeing pictures or examining you. The breast reduction may be covered by your insurance plan, if you meet their criteria. The decision about the tummy tuck or liposuction depends on what is distorting your abdominal contour. If the problem is just fat, and you have good skin tone, then liposuction may be appropriate.
If you have a loose abdominal wall muscle layer, and extra skin (with or without excess fat) then an abdominoplasty may be a better choice. Either of these procedures may be performed with or without an overnight stay. I suggest you see a plastic surgeon to make a plan. (Lewis Ladocsi, MD, FACS, Lewis Ladocsi, MD, FACS, Richmond Plastic Surgeon)
It is very common to perform a breast reduction and tummy tuck combination procedure in my practice. I will usually recommend that we do this procedure in a hospital and have an overnight stay to ensure your comfort and safety.
I find most patients can return to desk work safely from this procedure by 3 weeks. If you do the breast reduction with liposuction alone, this may only be 2 weeks.
Recovery is a subjective process and we frequently see patients recover quicker, but occasionally it takes longer. It is best to err on the side of caution and have time on your side when taking time off from the job. I wish you a safe and healthy recovery. (Paul S. Gill, MD, Houston Plastic Surgeon)
