Does Botox help with Bell's palsy? Can it line up my face and stop my eye from twitching?
Botox can help with improving symmetry and balance especially in those with facial palsy
Jul 12, 2014
Botox can be used to help re-balance facial expression and reduce twitches in people who have Bell's and other palsy's. It is an advanced injection technique and requires an excellent understanding of facial anatomy and very precise placement of the drug for best effects. I think it's one of the most wonderful effects of Botox that go beyond pure aesthetics.
What if I Don't Hear the Crunch Sound with Botox? Does That Mean It Was Not Injected Deeply Enough?
Botox is excellent for softening the
May 26, 2013
I'm guessing that you've also been using a retinoid or having other rejuvenation treatments because the fact that you're not hearing the "crunch" sound means that either the doctor changed the needles they were using and these are of a better quality, that they're changing the needles as they go along with the injections since it's a dull needle that can make that sound, or that your skin is healthier due to rejuvenation treatments and the needle is passing through healthier collagen as it...
Masseter Botox - is 5 Units Per Side Enough?
Botox can be very effective in re-contouring the jawline as an off-label use
May 26, 2013
Botox in the masseters can be very helpful for reducing the strength and size of this muscle which can soften the jawline and achieve a beautful contour in that area. Typically 5 units is a small dose for this area but more can be added, usually 20 to up to 50 units per side depending on how large the muscle is and how much of an effect you're looking for.
24/F, What to Do when Acne is Not Going Away?
Acne can happen at any age, even if you never had it as a teenager. There are excellent treatment options that avoid antibiotics
May 26, 2013
Acne can be very difficult to manage and can have a big impact on your daily life and self esteem. There are treatments that are more "natural" but natural doesn't always mean safer and it can take longer to see results. I would consider two natural supplements that happen to be prescriptions: Nicomide- which is a complex of vitamin B, folic acid, copper and zinc; and Rezyst IM- which is an anti-inflammatory pro-biotic made for those with acne. There is also an in-office treatment called the...
Will Laser Hair Removal Work on my Olive Skin and Thick Hair?
The Light Sheer Duet is an ideal laser for hair removal
May 22, 2013
The Light Sheer Duet Diode laser can treat very large areas quickly, no gel or mess, and with very little discomfort even in olive skin tones. It's important to shave the area prior to treatment and to not have a suntan in the area being treated. It usually takes 5-7 treatments for optimal results and occasional maintenance visits for any stubborn areas.
What would be the most effective permanent/semi-permanent hair removal treatment?
The Light Sheer Duet is an outstanding treatment
Apr 1, 2013
The light sheer duet is a diode laser that has a very large spot size and does not use gel. It is fast and virtually painless, not messy or sticky and great for larger surface areas like legs and back. It takes about 5-8 treatments, only works on dark hair. You should shave the area to be treated so the hair is present but short. Treatments should be done at 1 month intervals. You should not have a suntan when doing the treatments. They should be done by or under the supervision of a...
Ematrix--yes or no?
Ematrix is one of my favorite treatments for acne scarring in skin of color
Mar 29, 2013
Ematrix can be very effective in skin of color. Everything depends on the settings used and how the treatment is done, along with post-treatment care. You should not have had recent sun exposure and should use sunscreen after. There are two different tips, I prefer the standard sublative for my skin of color patients over the deep sublative. I do have my patients wear makeup as desired the next day. Sometimes the redness and small brown dots can persist for about 5 days. A series of...
