I generally tell patients that around 150-200cc’s will take them up about a cup size.  It is quite a conservative augmentation, which it sounds like is what you are looking for (just to restore lost volume rather than add a lot of extra).  Generally the recovery is a little easier with smaller implants, but there will still be soreness for the first few days.  Best of luck!

It is ok to shower at this point after surgery, just be gentle with the area and rinse well with clean water.  I would avoid any standing water (bathtubs, hottubs, swimming pools etc) until you are fully healed.  Do not be concerned with starting your period before seeing your surgeon — your surgeon will not be bothered by this at all and would much rather see you at your scheduled follow up to check on your progression.  It is not uncommon for women to start their cycles at unexpected ti…

The typical recovery from a labiaplasty is 2-3 days of swelling (helps to stay off your feet and ice), 2 weeks until exercise, and 4-6 weeks until sexual activity.  On the day of the procedure, I send everyone home with a “kit” including a numbing spray, ice packs, and a squirt bottle to rinse after using the bathroom.  If we do the labiaplasty under just numbing medicine patients can drive themselves home.  You can shower the day after the procedure and apply ointment to the incisions.  I…

Thank you for your question — it is very normal to have numerous sutures after a labiaplasty procedure.  Every surgeon has their own preference as to what type of suture and what type of suturing technique.  Often there are frequent very small sutures which dissolve on their own or can be trimmed after you are healed.  Stay in touch with your surgeon to monitor your healing and best of luck!

It is often very difficult to assess things in the first week or so after your labiaplasty surgery because there is a considerable amount of swelling and bruising.  It does not appear from your photographs that you have any open areas or separations.  I would continue to follow your surgeon’s post-operative recommendations for care of the area and keep in close touch with him/her if you have any bleeding or other concerns.  You will be able to ask your surgeon at your post-operative visit ab…

You do seem to have a small degree of wound breakdown along your incision.  I would recommend seeing your surgeon so they can best advise you for wound care.  At this point more sutures will not help and the usual recommendation is to let everything heal on its own.  Best of luck with your continued recovery.

It is very normal to have irregular appearing incisions in the first few weeks (and especially the first few days) after a labiaplasty.  This is from sutures and swelling and just the general way that labial tissue appears.  Your pictures look very normal.  Give it several weeks to months for everything to heal and your incisions to fade.  Best of luck!

I’m sorry you’re going through this!  It sounds like you weren’t healed completely and likely opened up part of your incision line.  I would suggest having an in-person exam with your surgeon to evaluate.  Generally openings in the incision are left to heal by themselves but definitely keep in close touch with your surgeon during this process to make sure things are healing well and that you don’t need a small revision in the future.  I would definitely wait to have intercourse, use a tam…

Thank you for your question – some temporary darkening is possible after hematoma, but it is also very normal to have darkly pigmented labia minora.  From your pictures your labia appear very much normal and although you have a visible scar, it should continue to improve over time.  Best of luck with your continued recovery.

Thanks for your question, and I’m sorry you’re not yet thrilled with your results — full liposuction recovery takes 6 months for all of the swelling to subside.  I would recommend waiting for 6 months before considering a touch up because you may ultimately end up not needing any revision or touch up (as some areas remain swollen for longer than others and will ultimately even out).  Best of luck in your recovery!

Thank you for your question and I’m sorry you’re not having the easiest post-operative course.  From your pictures I do not see evidence of a serious infection, but obviously an in person examination is necessary to fully evaluate.  An antibiotic should help superficial infections, provided it is the right antibiotic for the particular bacteria causing the infection.  It is not unusual to have swelling and some redness as your labia heal.  Definitely stay in close touch with your surgeon – i…
