Breast lift or breast augmentation?
breast lift vs implants alone
Jan 12, 2018
Hello,A physical exam is necessary to decide on whether or not you're a candidate for a lift alone or breast augmentation alone. If your nipples are above your inframammary fold then you will likely not require a lift. If your nipples are at or very slightly below your inframammary fold, you may benefit from a lift or a particular technique with breast augmentation called a type 2 or a type 3 dual plane breast augmentation. You'll need a in-person consultation with a board certified plastic...
I’m going to get implants. Do I need a lift, too?
do I need a lift?
Jan 12, 2018
Hi Lizzie,Thank you for your question and your photos to help clarify things. The answer to this question would be based on information that would be obtained with a physical exam. Your height and the distance between your sternal notch (where your collar bones come towards each other at the top of your sternum) and your nipples would determine whether or not a lift is necessary. Your breast creases, or inframammary folds, appear to be relatively high compared to the "footprint" of your...
I would love to know if I'm a good candidate for a breast lift W/O augmentation? I'm 5'5, 145lbs
breast lift without implants
Jan 12, 2018
Hello!
You are a great candidate for a breast lift without implants. If done properly, your breast tissue could be reoriented to seem as though you have an implant. This would preserve your overall breast volume, raise your nipples to a higher position, and create a beautiful shape to your breasts. Just make sure you meet with a plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Good luck!

breast augmentation with nipple piercings
Dec 3, 2017
Hello Shailay! Thank you for the photos to help clarify your questions. Your nipple piercings will not compromise your result after breast augmentation. Due to the instruments we use during surgery, they will have to be temporarily removed for surgery but can be replaced after. Your goal of a full B cup is perfect for your body type and will look beautiful. Modern implant technology combined with meticulous surgical technique allows us to achieve very specific results for you. Just make ...
How long should I wait, after a breast lift, to get implants? 6 months post op.
implants after breast lift
Oct 25, 2017
If you are truly unhappy, then 6 months may be enough time to have waited before getting implants. Typically, it is safe to perform a breast augmentation about 3 months after a breast lift, if this is the original plan. If you underwent fat grafting in the hopes of avoiding an implant, I would recommend that you wait 6-12 months. Your results can continue to change over the course of a year and you don't want to try to "hit a moving target" by operating too soon. That being said, it is...
I am 5’4, 140 pounds. Would I be a good candidate for a BBL?
am i a candidate for BBL
Oct 23, 2017
Hello,
Based on your photographs and the images you've provided, a Brazilian butt lift would create a beautiful contour in your lower torso. The key is to truly sculpt the lower back and torso, which creates the majority of the curves. Then, the removed fat is processed and a SELECT volume is strategically placed into regions of the buttocks that would benefit from some enhancement. Be weary of very large volume fat transfers, as this can be a dangerous operation if not performed safely and...
I got 1 cc of Voluma to add volume to my cheeks. Can I get another without complication?
I got 1 cc of Voluma to add volume to my cheeks. Can I get another without complication?
Oct 23, 2017
Hello,
There is absolutely nothing wrong with adding more Voluma secondarily at a later date. For many "first time" patients, it can be nerve wracking to get more than 1 cc injected due to the nervousness of looking "fake" or overdone. For patients that will see a difference with 1 cc, but maybe not a complete correction/improvement, I actually encourage them to consider a stepwise approach, but am up front with them in discussing the high likelihood that they'll be back for another...
Is breast augmentation safe for a patient with asthma?
breast augmentation with asthma
Oct 23, 2017
Hello,
Typically, it is safe to perform this surgery in a patient with asthma as long as your symptoms are well controlled. I would recommend that you meet with your primary care physician or a pulmonologist prior to surgery to make sure that you are set up for success. Anesthesia can create inflammation in the lungs (temporarily) that can lead to secretions. If you have a hard time getting rid of these, you could end up with pneumonia. It's important to make sure that everything that can be...
Why would you need a mesh in a breast augmentation procedure?
"mesh" with breast augmentation
Oct 23, 2017
It is very uncommon to use any type of "mesh" or "extra tissue" during a primary breast augmentation, meaning the first time a patient has had implants placed. It is typically used to provide extra support in situations where a revision surgery is required for visible rippling due to thin tissue, implant malposition (implant falling out into the armpit or down low on to the upper abdomen), or symmastia ("uniboob").
Good luck!
6 weeks post op, stitch opening? I have a small spot on the side of my breast that keeps getting infla
open wound after breast surgery
Oct 13, 2017
Hello,
Based on the photograph you may have a superficial dehiscence, or wound separation. Your surgeon should accommodate seeing you in short notice whenever things don't go according to plan. Reach out to your surgeon or your surgeon's nurse. They may have you send them a photo as well. Just make sure that you touch base with your surgeon. If they give you a hard time about making an earlier follow up appointment, then just show up. You should never feel weird or uncomfortable about...
I had a breast augmentation and I've been told these scars are a reaction from my body to the dissolva
breast augmentation scars
Oct 12, 2017
It appears as though your surgeon likely used external sutures, aka "the baseball" stitch. These can leave dots on either side of the incision as new epithelium grows down into the track of each suture. Black would usually indicate that a permanent/removable suture called Nylon was likely used. Dissolvable sutures do not typically leave this type of an appearance.
Silicone scar gel and laser treatments may be helpful in improving the overall appearance, but the only way to get rid of the...
Full or mini tummy tuck? Age 22
full vs. mini tummy tuck
Oct 12, 2017
It is impossible to give a full and accurate recommendation without a physical exam, but based on your photos it appears as though you would benefit far more from a full tummy tuck than a mini. It would be quite transformative for you. This would remove excess skin, tighten your six pack muscles, and restore a pretty and round shape to your belly button. As far as timing goes, having a 1 yo can be difficult in the recovery process after an abdominoplasty. If you have a lot of help, then it...
Scar revision on breast lift scar?
timing for scar revision
Oct 12, 2017
The key to a good scar is meticulous closure and patience. Your new scar has begun the entire healing process all over again. It's normal for scars to become pink and puffy as your body is mending itself. I wouldn't consider another revision for at least six months, but preferably a year, if it's necessary. Make sure you address your concerns with your surgeon, just like you did before, and listen to their advice.
Looking into surgery and consultations. What are some experienced recommendations of procedure(s) that
focus on what you'd like to improve
Oct 12, 2017
I highly recommend that you think about specific things that you would like to improve upon. If you feel as though "everything" bothers you, then you may want to consider actually sitting down and writing out the specific things that bother you in the order in an order that prioritizes what you'd like to change the most. In doing so, you will have goals already being set by you, which will increase your chances of being happy with your outcome. You may also find that after...
I am HIV+ for more than 23 years, is it possible to have a tummy tuck and breast lift with implants?
Mommy makeover/HIV
Aug 26, 2017
Hello,
I'm happy to hear you've been in good health and it sounds as though your gastric sleeve went well!
Regarding your question, a positive HIV status is not necessarily a contraindication to plastic surgery. That being said, I would recommend that you take your time and meet with your infectious disease doctor/hematologist, primary care doctor, and a board certified plastic surgeon. In my practice, I generally do not recommend that patients undergo elective surgery with a CD4 count...
