Any suggestions for raised acne scar?
Reducing Acne Scars and Acne Redness
Jan 26, 2016
Jan 26, 2016
Thank you for your question. It is difficult without seeing a picture, but it sounds like you might have active acne, or even acne cysts. Massaging scars or cysts is not known to be a successful treatment. These are best treated by a dermatologist, in the office with a shot of cortisone. The cortisone is anti-inflammatory, and shrinks the cyst down quickly. Cortisone shots are also used to treat hypertrophic scars and keloids. If you keep getting bumps that look like pimples on or…
How many areas should be treated for the amount of problem areas I have? Botox. Possibly Restylane.
Botox and Restylane for Lines on the Face
Jan 13, 2016
Jan 13, 2016
Thank you for your question regarding Botox and Restylane. It sounds like you have a number of issues to be addressed. Botox would treat the bunny lines and 11s on the forehead and these would each be considered separate areas, so it sounds like you need two areas for Botox. For smokers lines, or fine lines around the mouth, and the crease under your nose, you might be a good candidate for Restylane Silk or Belotero. Regarding the dropped lids, I would need to evaluate this in person, but…
Do acne scars get worse over the years ?
Best Laser Treatments for Acne Scars
Dec 9, 2015
Dec 9, 2015
Acne scars, both ice pick and box type become more prominent as we age as a direct result of loss of collagen and elastin. These types of acne scars respond really well to the TotalFX which is a fractional CO2 laser. While there are always risk factors associated with laser procedures, neither would cause more harm to the existing scars . I can understand why you would be terrified as the TotalFX procedure has discomfort associated with it and requires a significant amount of downtime….
What do you recommend for these wrinkles?
Treating Under Eye Lines
Dec 7, 2015
Dec 7, 2015
Are the lines only present when you are engaging the muscles (i.e. smiling or squinting)? If so, Botox can treat the lines on the sides of the eyes (crow’s feet), but Botox is not indicated for use under the eye. If the lines are always present (static lines), a resurfacing laser such as Fraxel would be more appropriate.Wrinkles under the eyes are often due to sun damage, so it is imperative to use a facial sunscreen daily and reapply every two hours when you are out in the sun.If you are…
What is best for under eye wrinkles: Botox or Fillers?
Under Eye wrinkle Options
Dec 30, 2014
Dec 30, 2014
I cannot say for sure from the picture, but it looks like you do have a mild tear trough deformity. This can be corrected with hyaluronic acid fillers such as Belotero or Restylane. Botox would work for the dynamic wrinkles on the sides of the eyes and may diffuse to help with your area of concern. So I would start with Botox in this situation and then move on to filler if the area still has wrinkles. You should also see your dermatologist in person to look at the…
How long does swelling and dark bronzing last after Fraxel?
Skin after Fraxel
Dec 29, 2014
Dec 29, 2014
Mild swelling and bronzing of the skin can occur after a treatment with the 1927nm Fraxel. This is usually followed by flaking/peeling of the skin which typically lasts 3-5 days. Bright redness, mild swelling and some darkening are common after treatment with the 1550 nm wavelength and this typically lasts 1 week before resolving. Fraxel repair is similar to 1550nm but a bit more invasive. So it depends which Fraxel you had, what it was for and what settings were used…
I want botox treatment. How much will it cost?
Costs of Botox
Dec 24, 2014
Dec 24, 2014
Costs for Botox vary significantly based on how much the patient needs and based on the physician administering it. Some skin centers charge for Botox based on a “cost per area” basis, while others do a cost per unit. The cost per unit can range from $10-$16, with $13 being the average. So for example, the common area of the glabella (number 11 lines and area around the brow), typically requires 20-30 units. If your doctor is charging $13 per unit, this area would…
