From the standpoint of safety uterine fibroids do not increase the risks associated with liposuction of the abdomen or flanks. In patients with large fibroids they may change the shape of the lower abdominal region effecting the expected results. I have been doing SmartLipo for almost 7 years and have found it to be extremely effective in the right individuals. In general swelling will start to decrease over the first 3 to 6 weeks and continue for several months. I have been doing SmartLipo for almost 7 years now. For the abdominal area I generally use only 3 incisions, 2 are in the pubic region and 1 is inside the belly button. These incisions are 2-4 mm in length and require no sutures at the end of the procedure.I hope this helps.

In general I ask my patient not to lift greater than 15 pounds after breast augmentation for 3 weeks. I do tell my mom's that it is ok to carry their children as soon as they are comfortable as long as they either kneel and use their legs to pick them up or someone hands them to you.

The recovery time and post surgical discomfort are both dependent on whether muscle plication (tightening/repair) is done during the procedure. This is true for either a full or mini tummy tuck. I restrict my patient who have the muscle repaired or tightened to no heavy lifting (greater than 15 pounds), no twisting activities (swimming, golf, running, bowling..etc) for 6 weeks. In Virginia both procedures can be done during the same surgery. The hospitals separate the times for cosmetic and insurance based portions. It is important to have an accurate diagnosis and be certain that it is a fibroadenoma before undertaking the cosmetic aspect of the surgery. In some cases the same incision can be used but this is not always possible and you should be made aware of the planned approaches prior to your surgery.
