Thanks for your pictures. I believe you absolutely need a lift. Although your nipples are pointing outward (not down), your breasts are too low on your chest. If you simply put implants in your breasts where they are now, they will just be bigger, but LOWER. Do the right procedure at the outset. I agree with you, Mentor implants are FDA-approved in the United States. Additionally, you can purchase an extended warranty for your gel implants that will give you assurance that Mentor will help you if you should have any issues within 10 years. I would highly recommend a lift along with your breast implant. While your nipples are at the level of your inframammary fold, much of your breast tissue is below it. If you put implants in your breasts where they are now, much of the implant would not be supported by muscle or fascia and would quickly drop like a rock in a sock. You can tighten your skin all you want, but if your muscles are still spread apart (like yours are) your abdomen will not be flat for long. Make sure you are done having children and do the right thing – TT WITH muscle repair.

It is really difficult to tell you what would be best for you without seeing you. Based on the information you have given us, in that you are now quite deflated, I do know that your tissues have lost a lot of elasticity from being stretched and then deflated. I think you have a fabulous result. I’m glad that you included your pre-op photo, as you have some God-given asymmetries preoperatively. Your right breast was slightly smaller then with subtle shape difference than the left preoperatively. Breast implants can only do so much in changing asymmetries of folds, tissues, and rib cage asymmetries. You have an excellent result, enjoy!

It is common for veins to become engorged after augmentation in the post-operative period of about a month. Some women are naturally more “veiny” than others and this is a common site to see them. I do not recommend having them removed as they are doing an important job. These veins are too large in caiber to sclerose. I’m sorry that there are not any great options!
3 weeks post op and feel constantly thirsty. Is this a side effect of the surgery?

Feeling thirsty in the first few days after surgery is quite common and is most likely due to dehydration or fluid shifts in your body. To still be feeling like this 3 weeks after surgery is unusual and should be evaluated by your primary medical doctor to ensure that you don’t have a new onset of diabetes or other medical problem. The manufacturers state that the average lifespan of saline implants is 8 – 15 years, of course the range can be quite short or long. I have seen saline implants that are 20 years old. The reason your breast is changing is due to the radiation which has a permanent damaging effect on the skin and tissues while also preventing a recurrence of breast cancer.
