Your recovery will mainly be dependent on your tummy tuck recovery. This can take anywhere from 7 to 14 days. Usually by that time, you have recovered form you brazilian butt lift procedure and the assoicated liposuction. (Siamak Agha, MD, PhD, FACS, Orange County Plastic Surgeon)
You proabably need to give yourself 2 full weeks to recover from the surgery. 12 days may not be enought time. I can only give you a range for recovery time from these 2 operations done in combination. About 2 to 4 weeks on average.
When undergoing 2 plastic surgeries of this magnitude, it’s important to give yourself and your body enough time to heal. Twelve days is probably not enough time to recover and recuperate. It may be several weeks before you start feeling like your normal self again. (Richard H. Fryer, MD, Salt Lake City Plastic Surgeon)
Typical recovery time for tummy tuck surgery with buttock augmentation is about 2 weeks, however some patients are able to return sooner. It is important to remember that it will take a full month to return to normal activities such as exercising and heavy lifting. If you are not feeling up to going into work after 12 days, in my experience, most employers are understanding and will accept a medical note which can be provided by your surgeon. (Tarick K. Smaili, MD, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy tucks and Brazilian butt lifts are very popular procedures because they are very effective ways to contour the torso and create a beautiful and round butt. When considering these procedures, you should always keep in mind the necessary recovery process. Aside from the time it will take to recover from these procedures individually, keep in mind the activities and positions that you must perform during each recovery process.
After a tummy tuck, it is advised to rest in the seated or flexed position so as not to put tension on to your lower abdominal incision. After a Brazilian butt lift, you should not put pressure on the areas that received the fat grafts. With this in mind, consider how you recover if you must remain flexed and you must not sit on your butt. In our practice, patients commonly receive these two procedures but in two separate surgeries.
They first received the Brazilian butt lift which includes extensive liposuction to the abdomen and trunk. Once they have recovered from this process, they then receive the tummy tuck which will remove all the excess skin that is left over after the liposuction. In this way, they will achieve both goals and not let the recovery process of one surgery interfere with that of the other. (Pat Pazmino, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
It may be possible for you to return to work in 12 days but it may be uncomfortable for you to sit for longer periods of time and you may still have the drain in for the tummy tuck. You can always call in sick if it doesn’t work out. (Edward J. Domanskis, MD, Newport Beach Plastic Surgeon)
The combination of Brazilian Butt enhancement and tummy Tuck is a lot of surgery. You have to dedicate the time for healing properly otherwise DO NOT DO THE SURGERY. You have to follow the protocol of your surgeon and body to heal properly. (Samir Shureih, MD, Baltimore Plastic Surgeon)
First off there are many surgeons who do not advise the procedure being performed at the same time. In selected individuals, I have performed both. The concern is for the post operative positioning: supine or prone? Twelve days is possible but cutting it close (no pun intended).
Given the nature of your occupation it is likely that your buttocks will be extremely sore after sitting all day. (Otto Joseph Placik, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
It is hard to determine recovery time for an individual person. Most people are back to their normal activities in 10 to 14 days. However, there is a motivational/psychological aspect to recovery as well as the physical recovery. Some patients take a only a week, while some patients take several weeks even though they had the same surgery. (David Shafer, MD)
12 days is Ok for tummy tuck or buttock augmentation but these procedures can not be combined becaused during recovery from buttock augmentation you can not lay on your buttock for at lease one week.
Also, during recovery from a tummy tuck you can not lay prone for at least a week. (S. Sean Younai, MD, FACS, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)
Getting back to work after a tummy tuck
The combination of a tummy tuck and brazillian butt lift (fat transfer for butt augmentation) can provide a tremendous improvement in your appearance. They are a good combination of procedures to be done together. The recovery from a tummy tuck is 2-3 three weeks in my experience.
The same is true for fat transfer to the butt. The combination may have a slightly longer healing time but should still fall in the range of 2-3 weeks, possibly 4 weeks. Of course, every patient is different – some will return to normal activities sooner than others.
When I have patients that come in from out of town for these procedures I have them stay in Miami for 2 weeks. That is usually adequate to get them through the initial healing stages and back to activity.
