Can I lose an abdominal apron without surgery?
When a patient has a hanging apron of fat in the lower abdomen, further weight loss and exercising, though perhaps desirable, will not get rid of it.
You are an ideal candidate for a standard abdominoplasty, which tightens the muscles and exchanges the fold for a transverse scar in the bikini line.
This surgery is performed under a general anesthetic in an ambulatory setting. You may have drains for a few days and you should be able to return to work in 2 weeks. Exercising may be resumed in 6 weeks. (J. Brian Boyd, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
Can u achieve a flat stomach?
It is not possible without surgery because you have a significant skin issue. However , you look like you are in great shape and are to be congratulated on getting it done.
Very few people can accomplish what you have done. You should reward yourself by having the skin removal surgery which will flatten your stomach the rest of the way. If you seek abdominpplasty be sure to look closely at the Saldanha technique. I wish you all the best. (Grady B. Core, MD, Birmingham Plastic Surgeon)
Flat Stomach
That is quite an accomplishment. I find that patients with your amount of weight loss don’t respond well to the non-operative skin tightening therapies, and even if there is a response, it is not going to be enough to achieve your goals. Most people with your amount of weight loss have a significant amount of loose skin and really need a tummy tuck to achieve the best results. At this point, I don’t think that that the remaining weight you want to lose will alter what procedure you need, so I would recommend that you begin your search for a plastic surgeon. Abdominal contouring
Unfortunately, the only way to achieve a completely flat stomach is with a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty. Based on your photograph, you would require a full tummy tuck (incision along the very low portion of the abdomen and around the belly button, and muscles tightened).
It appears that you also may benefit from liposuction in the love handle area for an optimal result. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon for a more thorough, detailed discussion. I also recommend waiting to have surgery until you have lost all of the weight you want to lose. (Nicholas Tarola, MD, Nashville Plastic Surgeon)
After weight loss, is there any non-surgical way to make your tummy flat?
The honest answer is that there are no non-surgical procedures that are going to make your stomach completely flat. Some skin tightening methods may improve it slightly but nothing other than a tummy tuck will give you a drastic result. I think you would be an ideal candidate for a full abdominoplasty, but I would wait until you are within 5-10 pounds of your goal weight. Consult a board-certified plastic surgeon when you are ready to take that step. (Brian Reedy, MD, Reading Plastic Surgeon)
Flat stomach without surgery?
You have a fair amount of skin laxity which is quite common with weight loss or post pregnancy. Unfortunately, there is no non-surgical method of tightening skin to this extent. There are some radio-frequency methods of a small amount of skin tightening with many repeated treatments such as Endymed, but you would not get very much tightening with your degree of laxity, and would just be wasting your money. Your best outcome will be a full tummy tuck from a skilled surgeon, although you will get improvement with a mini tummy tuck as well. (Pablo Prichard, MD, Phoenix Plastic Surgeon)
