What Would Be the Best Option for my Stomach? Also, Do You Advise Against Going to Non-certified Plastic Surgeons?
You should ALWAYS consult with a boarded Plastic Surgeon! I would be frightened if this doctor could not operate in a hospital operating room to do the TT or lipo / Very risky! (Darryl J. Blinski, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
Lipo vs tummy tuck
Hard to tell if lipo alone will address your concerns. I think most Board certified plastic surgeons will suggest seeing someone who is actually trained to do cosmetic surgery over someone trained in Emergency Medicine.
I have seen some patients who have spent a lot of money on lipo done by a “Laser Center”- often by non- Board Certified plastic surgeons who ultimately come to a tummy tuck anyway.
Seems like a waste of money not to do the correct procedure from the start. (Glenn Lyle, MD, Raleigh-Durham Plastic Surgeon)
Liposuction and tummy tuck
You would definitely benefit from liposuction and a tummy tuck if you want tight abs. A non-board certified plastic surgeon with cut-rate deals is a recipe for disaster. You cannot get great quality at a cheap price (at least not on this planet). Also beware of doctors who are just “cosmetic surgeons”; even if they are “board-certified”.
Many cosmetic surgery board certifications can be obtained after just a weekend training course. Someone who is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery has done many years of training and passed rigorous written and oral examinations.
If you don’t want to pay for a good surgeon, then I would recommend you wait until you can afford it. Your body is too precious to allow a lesser qualified surgeon from working on you. (Victor Ferrari, MD, FACS, Charlotte Plastic Surgeon)
Abdomen and board certified surgeon
I think an examination is the only way to tell if lipo alone will correct your concerns or you need a skin only tummy tuck. You may have significant laxity from the weight loss and therefore, lipo will give you potentially more laxity or not correct what you have. As for your second question, I would advise strongly that you see a board certified plastic surgeon who performs these procedures regularly. We are talking about your body here, not having your house painted. You want it done correctly. (Rick Rosen, MD, Norwalk Plastic Surgeon)
How to improve my appearance after weightloss and should I go to a laser clinic non-certified who knows what doctor?
First, I would avoid a physician who is not a board certified plastic surgeon. I’ve seen some crazy things from physicians who dabble in cosmetic surgery because they went to a weekend seminar and wanted to make some extra cash. If you want to do cosmetic surgery, finish your plastic surgery residency – I did 7 years of training to do what I do including a year specializing in just cosmetic surgery. It does make a difference.
Now, about what to do! Liposuction may very well give you great results. I’m always a little careful with stretch marks because your skin may not contract adequately to your satisfaction. If that were the case, then you would need the skin excised as a separate procedure. (Brian Dorner, MD, Columbus Plastic Surgeon)
