Full vs Mini Tummy Tuck
You appear to be a candidate for a full Tummy Tuck. I think you will be disappointed with a mini. Consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) to discuss your options and expectations. (Robert E. Zaworski, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
Mini vs standard tummy tuck
You have more skin than you think. I say lesser procedure lesser result. I think you would be disappointed with a mini tummy tuck. My recommendation would be for a standard(full) tummy tuck. Bring a pair of panties or bathing suit bottom you would like the scar to conceal.
This way with good planning your tummy will look great and the scar will be as low as you want itEric Weiss MD (Eric Weiss, MD, FACS, Orange Park Plastic Surgeon)
Based on the photos you submitted you look like you have laxity above and below the umbilicus as well as would benefit from tightening of fascial layer above and below the umbilicus, so I would recommend a full. (Rick Rosen, MD, Norwalk Plastic Surgeon)
Am I a candidate for a mini TT? Will it possible to obtain a low scar placement to remove loose skin and stretch marks?
In my opinion, it would depend on the results that you are looking for and would be satisfied with. You have skin laxity above and below your belly button, so a “mini” tummy tuck will not correct all of your skin laxity, but it could significantly improve it.
If you do indeed have diastasis rectus, separation of the abdominal muscles, then these would need to be repaired, so if that is the case, I would definitely recommend a full tummy tuck. On your photos, the skin laxity is evident, but it is difficult to say for certain if the muscles are separated or if what is being seen is just the skin laxity over the abdominal wall. I would definitely recommend an in person evaluation so all of your options could be discussed with you so you would have the most information to make your decision. (Amy T. Bandy, DO, FACS, Newport Beach Plastic Surgeon)
Am I a candidate for a mini TT?
It depends on how you define mini TT. In my practice, a mini TT is limited to patients with minimal skin laxity below the umbilicus and muscle diastasis. From your pictures, I think you will need a longer incision than just a classic mini since you have a considerable amount of loose skin above your umbilicus. The incision can be placed low, but as mentioned, this may then require a short T-scar. (Donald Griffin, MD, Nashville Plastic Surgeon)
You probably need a modified tummy tuck – repair of muscle and removal of skin but little or no liposuction. Your muscle damage is too much for a mini-tummy tuckA low incision is fine, it may leave a small vertical scar. Best wishes. (Elizabeth Morgan, MD, PhD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
