Whether or not you are a good candidate for a tummy tuck will depend on the thickness of the fat layer above the belly button. This would require an examination.
You have a combination of skin excess and too much thickness of the upper abdominal skin. This fatty layer should be first addressed with weight loss.
Then you would be an excellent candidate for tummy tuck. (Gary Lawton, MD, FACS, San Antonio Plastic Surgeon)
The full or extended abdominoplasty is what I offer my patients when they present with a frame like you are depicting in the pictures.
I would tell them what can be accomplished and where exactly the incision would go. The lower incision along the crease would allow the excess fat and skin to be removed and make the patient’s abdomen flatter. (Frank J. Ferraro, MD, Paramus Plastic Surgeon)
Congratulations in deciding to get a healthier look! According to your pictures you seem to be a good candidate for a full or even extended tummy tuck.
What I would suggest is to lose weight in order to achieve a more dramatic outcome, please have an in person consultation or a virtual consultation so you can discuss thorughly all your questions and expectations with the PS of your choice. (Jaime Campos Leon, MD, Mexico Plastic Surgeon)
The photograph demonstrates excess skin in excess fat. There’s probably also excess laxity the abdominal wall. All three would be addressed with and abdominoplasty. Ancillary liposuction should be discussed as well. (Vincent N. Zubowicz, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
Definitely you are a good candidate, but first get your BMI under 30, and then you can proceed. It looks like you are carrying some extra weight that will increase complications and hinder the cosmetic result. (Joel Patrick Maier, MD, Cincinnati Plastic Surgeon)
A Tummy Tuck will certainly benefit you in getting rid of the overhanging apron and tighten your muscles. Liposuction will give additional benefit for the sides and frontal shaping. You seem to have significant fat inside your abdomen (visceral fat) which will not improve with these procedures and the abdominal shape will be less than ideal.
If, hoever you go on a sensible diet and exercise programand loose this weight before abdominoplasty , the results will be far superior. (Ajaya Kashyap, MD, India Plastic Surgeon)
The more ideal your body weight is, the better results my tummy tuck will be
Although your height an weight is not listed, it appears from your pictures that you may be too overweight at this point to be considered a good candidate for a tummy tuck. The closer you are to your ideal body weight, the better results you will have. The more obese you are the greater the chances of complications as well such as wound healing issues, seroma formation, DVTs (blood clot in the large veins of the legs) and Pulmonary embolisms (blood clot in the lungs).
Most people believe a BMI above 25 is considered obese. Try to lose some weight first with proper dieting and exercise and see a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation when you think you have reached your goal or cannot lose any more. (Bao L. Phan, MD, Honolulu Plastic Surgeon)
