Is it normal to notice blood accumulating on steri strips covering inframammary incisions 4 days a
Blood on steristrips
Feb 1, 2016
There is almost always some dried blood on the steristrips from a bit of oozing from the skin a few days after surgery. Your surgeon will probably replace the steristrip with a new one when he sees you again. It’s nothing to worry about.
I had a small infection on my tummy tuck incision and it has healed well but it is still very hard
Hard area
Jan 27, 2016
It would be helpful to see a photo, but areas that get infected are more inflamed and take longer to soften. Even the normal part of the scar can take a few months to turn the corner, so I’d be patient and wait at least 6 months to assess it with your surgeon. Some recommend massaging the firm area, but I do not believe it makes a difference versus simply waiting.
15 days post-op. Am I out of the woods for nipple necrosis?
Out of the woods?
Jan 27, 2016
Yes, if everything looks good and feels good at 15 days, you have nothing to worry about. Enjoy your results.
what type of needle recommend to deflate saline implants… 18g?16g?20g?21g?
Don’t do that
Jan 26, 2016
There is no way to slowly deflate your saline implant. Not sure why you want to, but it is not safe to do it yourself, and rarely is there a reason for your surgeon to do it either.
Endoscopic Diastasis repair?
Saggy belly button skin
Jan 23, 2016
The problem is really the loose skin around the belly button, not the small muscle separation. Even if the muscle could be fixed via an endoscope, it wouldn’t make any improvement. There is no scarless way to tighten the skin around the belly button. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your perspective, you fall into the category of someone who looks too good for a tummy tuck and the required scar.
Bad smelling pus and old blood oozing from breast after reduction 11 days after surgery
Infection
Jan 12, 2016
You had an infection that drained spontaneously – it happens occasionally. It looks like you were treated properly and are healing fine. That side may take a little longer to soften, but it will do so eventually. Drains are used by some to prevent fluid build up, but not to prevent an infection.
Permanent cleavage – best style implant? I found the pic online it shows something similar to what
Permanent cleavage
Dec 31, 2015
The photo you provide is an odd and unusual result and not a realistic goal in my opinion. Trying to get small implants to nearly touch in the middle is not possible when placed under the muscle, and runs the risk of joining the breasts (synmastia) if placed over the muscle. That being said, if you are looking for a more ‘fixed in place’ look with less reliance on a bra to give cleavage, you might consider an appropriate size form stable (gummy bear) implant placed over the muscle if…
I was wearing my compression garment upside down for a few days. Will this affect my recovery? (Ph
Compression garment
Dec 14, 2015
Wearing the garment upside down for a few days is fine and will not affect your recovery. Compression usually feels good in the first few weeks after the procedure and helps the swelling come down a little faster, but your result in the end will be the same even if you don’t wear it all.
Do I need an uplift or will breast implants alone be okay?
Breast lift needed?
Nov 29, 2015
From the photos, you do not need a lift. But you should understand that an implant alone exaggerates the pre-existing shape. Since you have some relative fullness at the bottom of the breasts, an implant in you will create more fullness at the bottom than in someone who has a higher, tighter breast shape. That’s not a bad thing, just something to consider when managing your expectations.
Can I take Ambien after tummy tuck and Lipo surgery?
Ambien
Nov 29, 2015
If ambien has worked for you in the past, there is no reason you can’t use it 9 days after a tummy tuck. If your sleep problems persist, be sure to discuss it with your plastic surgeon.
Deep sustained breathing after breast augmentation. Would this be a problem?
Deep breathing
Nov 10, 2015
There might be some breathing restriction from discomfort in the first few days after placing the implant under muscle, but there should be no effect on sustained deep breathing once the muscle relaxes and the pain resolves. One remote thing to consider would be the complication of a severe capsular contracture with pain that could theoretically affect your chest movement, but that seems very unlikely.
Can I drain it out myself?
Blister
Oct 31, 2015
That’s probably a blister from the tape dressing. Eventually it will break and drain some clear yellow fluid. Leaving it intact probably helps it heal underneath a bit faster and hurts less. But it’s a good idea to see your PS to trim away the blistered skin and show you how to care for the area while it heals.
Why does my incision look so uneven and lumpy after breast augmentation?
Lumpy incision
Oct 28, 2015
You are correct that the puckering, particularly on your left, is unusually severe. Maybe your surgeon needed to reinforce the implant pocket in that area with internal sutures. It can take a few months for those sutures to lose their grip on the tissues, so I’d be patient at this point, as frustrating as it might be. It should smooth out. Scar products or massage are not harmful, but will not help this problem.
I had 500cc saline biplane approach on 5/22/15. The sagging and over all look is bad. What would y
Revision
Oct 27, 2015
This is not an uncommon problem with a larger implant and poor skin support. External support from a good bra can help compensate for the problems, but if you can accept scars on the breast and tolerate being smaller, I’d suggest an exchange to a smaller (gel) implant, adjustment of the implant pocket, and a lift to reduce the amount of loose skin and reduce the size of the areola.
Do you recommend cohesive “shaped” implants for tuberous breasts in order to maintain a sloped upp
Tuberous breasts
Oct 24, 2015
If you have a true tuberous breast, the real issue is the tightness and underdevelopment of the lower portion of the breast. That means it is not always possible to get the look you desire (fullness at the bottom but not at the top) regardless of the shape of the implant. The advantage of a shaped form stable implant is that it might better selectively expand and shape the lower breast. But it is a slightly firmer feeling implant, usually requires a longer scar, and costs more, so be sure to…
