Congratulations on the results of your hard work, and yes, you are ready for an abdominoplasty, but it will need to be extended around your flanks and onto the back in order to maximize results. (Ronald V. DeMars, MD, Portland Plastic Surgeon)
TT after Massive Weight Loss
Congratulations on your weight loss. Now you are faced with getting rid of all that excess skin. Unfortunately, you have it all the way around your trunk. In someone who has lost that much weight and from your photos I would imagine that you need to have an incision all the way around to remove all the excess.
If you don’t, you will have big bulges at the ends of the abdominoplasty incision that even liposuction will not treat.
Find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with experience in doing massive weight loss surgery for a complete exam and sound advice. Ask to see photos so you know what to expect. Online answers are not enough. (Lori H. Saltz, MD, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
Get a consult from a board certifief plastic surgeon to determine timining and fully evaluate you medical history to confirm it can be done safely. (Michael A. Giuffrida, MD, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy tuck after weight loss
Congratulations on your weight loss. Some options that would be available to you are a panniculectomy (removal of excess skin) or a tummy tuck (removal of excess skin and tightening of the muscles).
It is difficult to assess which procedure would be more appropriate for you without examining you. One surgery should be adequate to give you the results you desire.
A consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon can help you to understand your options. (Josef Hadeed, MD, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)
Am I a good candidate for a tummy tuck after being 300lbs, down to 172lbs? (Photo)
Congratulations on your accomishment. Many factors need to be considered in the decision making process. I recommend a consultation in person where you can be carefully evaluated for potential surgery. When ready, you may well be able to accomplish your goal in one surgery. Pending your clinical assessment, there are few options available that vary from a straight tummy tuck to belt lumpectomy. (Maan Kattash, MD, FRCS, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
Stability of weight following massive weight loss
I agree with what has been already stated about surgical options following massive weight loss. I would like to suggest that your weight should be stable for at least 6 months prior to undergoing surgery to remove excess skin. I would also recommend that you get to your weight loss goal prior to pursing surgery. If you have been stable at your current weight for 6 months and you are happy with where you are, schedule your consultation and speak with your chosen plastic surgeon about which procedure or procedures will be needed to give you the result you desire. Congratulations on the weight loss. That is a big accomplishment! (W. Bryant Walker, MD, Jackson Plastic Surgeon)
