I have bloody liquid from a small hole under my tummy tuck incision, is this normal?
I would be very concerned! Any seroma could be come infected without proper care and drainage. Seek PAID consults from boarded Plastic Surgeons in Chicago. Or fly back to Mexico for care. I charge a consult fee to be seen of $500 than additional fees for treating the seroma. This could end up costing thousands of dollars. Guess the cheaper way became the expensive way for you. (Darryl J. Blinski, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
This is part of the problem with surgery that is out of country. Your surgeon is in Mexico and you are here.I have taken care of too many problems like this and much worse.
I would find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Chicago who would be willing to evaluate and assist you until this issue is resolved.Stephen M. Davis, MD, FACSGreen Hills Plastic Surgery (Stephen M. Davis, MD, FACS, Nashville Plastic Surgeon)
Draining seroma
This will need more attention. It may heal on it’s own, but you will need close follow up with your plastic surgeon … if it gets infected, you could have a serious problem on your hands. Call your plastic surgeon ASAP to be seen. (Joel Patrick Maier, MD, Cincinnati Plastic Surgeon)
Bloody liquid from tummy tuck incision
I think that you should be examined by a plastic surgeon as soon as possible. It is possible that it is simply seromatous fluid that will eventually stop. However, infection and other issues also need to be ruled out. (Sanjiv Kayastha, MD, Albany Plastic Surgeon)
Drainage after tummy tuck.
Given that we have limited photo of the area, I recommend that you seek the care of a board certified plastic surgeon in your area for detailed evaluation. I would recommend searching the following sites for qualified board certified plastic surgeons.
ASPS: American Society of plastic SurgeonsASAPS: American Society for Aesthetic Plastic SurgerySimply type in your zip code on the sites and you will be able to find qualified surgeons in your area. (Allen Gabriel, MD, FACS, Portland Plastic Surgeon)
First things first.
It is generally a very bad idea to regard major surgery such as yours like a vacation. You are now postoperative and are trying to get your medical care from the internet instead of from your surgeon. Please take this lesson to heart for the future. That being said, your plastic surgeon in Mexico MAY be correct, and might also be mistaken.
A proper examination IN PERSON is the only way to determine what is going on with your healing. You should seek the advice of a board certified plastic surgeon in your area, and be prepared to pay a consultation fee, since the surgeon whom you will be seeing is not likely to be enthusiastic about providing you with free medical care.
A proper evaluation would determine if you have a condition that requires treatment, such as a wound infection, or if you are healing as expected. Good luck to you and again, please do not make this mistake in the future.
While your surgeon in Mexico might have done a good operation for you, it is not good medicine to operate on a patient and not be available for them for their post-operative care. (Ram Kalus, MD, Mount Pleasant Plastic Surgeon)
