Unhappy one week after tummy tuck
Wow! It is unreasonable for you to be making any judgements after only a week after surgery. i’m sure your surgeon told you that it will take months before seeing the final result. And besides, the photos you show seem to show a very nice early result. be patient and listen to your surgeon. (Ronald Schuster, MD, Baltimore Plastic Surgeon)
You are swollen, it takes weeks for swelling to subside.Express your concern to your surgeon at your next visit so the swelling can be followed as you recover. (Elizabeth Morgan, MD, PhD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
It is hard to tell too much from the photos. The befores are pretty clear, the afters are not comparable views–sitting, not true lateral.
I do see improvement, obviously not to your expectations. There are limitations at what can be accomplished, The abdominal contents to occupy a certain volume, and cannot be compressed without limit without causing potentially catastrophic complications. One week is too early to evaluate results. Some may be swelling, but it is hard to tell from the posted photos. Follow with your surgeon. (Jourdan Gottlieb, MD, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
Early tummy tuck result
If your surgery was just a week ago, it is way too early to judge the results. It will take months (perhaps six months) for enough swelling to subside so that you can actually see what you have! I think you look good for this early after surgery. The surgeon had to be conservative about doing liposuction of the abdominal flap at same time as tummy tuck – it can be risky. If after everything has healed (six months – 1 year) if you still have excessive upper abdominal tissue liposuction will likely take care of it. Be patient. (Neal Handel, MD, Santa Barbara Plastic Surgeon)
Will look better with time
Still way too much swelling this soon after surgery- and that swelling is everywhere and in every tissue layer and at every level. Just try and be patient (I know this is hard to do- I am not good at it either) and focus on your scar treatment and preventing things like seromas that might impact your result. I bet things will look better and you will be pleased. There’s only so tight we can make things before tipping over into trouble. (J. Garrett Harper, MD, Charlotte Plastic Surgeon)
I believe the early appearance looks great! You needed to understand before the TT that you had excess visceral fat! Plus a dose of ‘realistic expectation’ is also in order.
Best to allow 3 months healing, lose 20 pounds and I believe the result will even be better. (Darryl J. Blinski, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
