Alternatives to a tummy tuck
Non invasive tummy tuck options
I have done extensive research on non surgical technologies over the last 25 years and work with them all the time.
I have been on the Scientific Advisory Board for Thermage and Ulthera and have both in my office currently.
We also have Exilis which is a radiofrequency device that is currently under investigation for the reduction of fat and the tightening of skin.
Two technologies for non invasive fat removal are Zerona and Zeltiq, with the latter being my choice in a landslide. All of these technologies can have a small to modest effect in patients.
We use it in patients who absolutely refuse surgery or are not surgical candidates. It can be effective for subtle looseness but remains somewhat unpredictable. That being said, I agree with my surgical colleagues that none of these non surgical options come close to the quality result you can get with surgery. (Jay Burns, MD, Dallas Plastic Surgeon)
No nonsurgical options to tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)
A tummy tuck is done to correct the conditions that you can’t treat with diet and exercise: loose skin, muscle separation, and localized fat. If there is only localized fat and the skin tone is good, and there is no muscle separation as typically occurs from pregnancy, the liposuction would be considered. However there are no nonsurgical alternatives that do the things that a tummy tuck does, and body contouring surgery such as lipo or abdominoplasty aren’t done for weight loss. (Richard Baxter, MD, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
What Are the Non-surgical Alternatives to a Tummy Tuck?
You request 3 options for a “non surgical” tummy tuck: few, slim, and none are the options. But seriously, there are no replacements for excision of extra skin and fat with rectus muscle tightening. Best to see thre boarded PSs in your area in person to examine you and discuss this issue in detail. (Darryl J. Blinski, MD, Miami Plastic Surgeon)
Non-Surgical Tummy Tuck Options
Weight loss is absolutely the best way to reduce the amount of fat in your abdominal area. Unfortunately, there are no good non-surgical options to address the loose skin and bulging muscles.
While there are many sites touting non-surgical options to tighten the skin, the reality is that they just don’t work. Your desire to address the excess fat and loose skin without surgery is admirable. Unfortunately surgery is truly the only alternative to tighten the loose skin. Best of luck! (Louis DeLuca, MD, Palm Beach Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy tuck alternatives?
Although there are a lot of gimmicks that come and go, there is no good alternative to tummy tucks surgery to remove excess skin/adipose tissue and tighten abdominal wall muscles after pregnancy or weight loss. Be careful: if it sounds too good to be true, it is! (Tom J. Pousti, MD, FACS, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
No great non-surgical tummy tuck replacements
Fat reduction can of course be done with further weight loss. But there are zero non-surgical treatments worth anything that make any difference in loose skin. Tummy tuck is the way to go for the best result. (Richard P. Rand, MD, FACS, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
