I Had a Bad tummy tuck results and I Am Not Happy with my Silhouette. Any Suggestions?
I would like to know three things: firstly, what was your appearance before your abdominoplasty? Secondly, when did you have your surgery? And thirdly, what specifically are you not pleased with? You will not see your final result for about a year after surgery Also, as some of my colleagues have pointed out, you may have some fat inside your abdominal cavity that is not accessible to the plastic surgeon.
Depending on your areas of dissatisfaction you may well be able to get closer to your desired result with further liposuction. I recommend seeing your surgeon for a chat to see what alternatives he or she suggests. (Eric Pugash, MD, Vancouver Plastic Surgeon)
Still full after a tummy tuck
In many procedures, there is a limit to what can be done safely. The skin can be tightened a certain amount, and there may be a limit to how much fat can be removed.
At this point, you may benefit from additional liposuction. Of course, if you lost weight on your own, the result would improve as well. (Paul Wigoda, MD, Fort Lauderdale Plastic Surgeon)
Dissatisfied after Tummy Tuck Surgery?
Often, patients are happier with the results of tummy tuck surgery one year after it was done than they are early on. At this point, I would suggest that you make sure you are involved in a healthy diet and exercise program. Wait at least one year before evaluating the end results of surgery. If still concerned, additional liposuction of the entire abdominal wall and/or skin excision of the “muffin top” area may help improve your bad tummy tuck results. (Tom J. Pousti, MD, FACS, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
Looks like you have too much intra abdominal fat, check out your BMI, I am sure it is close to 30, loose 20 lbs and you will look a lot better (William B. Rosenblatt, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
I think that provided you are otherwise healthy, your silhouette could really be improved with liposuction not only of the abdominal area but also of the flanks and upper back. This would help to shrink the rolls that you see on silhouette which are the most bothersome aspect of your silhouette in my opinion.
Patients must also be aware however that there are two types of fat in the tummy. The first is the fat between the skin and muscle. Tummy tuck and liposuction does a great job of getting rid of this fat. The second is the fat around the intestines. This fat will only be improved with weight loss unfortunately. Without examining your tummy I cannot tell you which of the two is contributing most to your concerns. (Sacha Obaid, MD, Dallas Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy Tuck and Not Happy With Shape
The shape can be improved with liposuction of the abdomen, flanks, and back. The upper abdominal question is a good one, but this can only be determined with an exam. If you are considering a revision, find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of tummy tucks and liposuction procedures each year. (Kenneth B. Hughes, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
Tummy Tuck and Improving Silhouette
It appears that your Tummy Tuck has a very nice result. Your abdomen is flat and the excess skin has been removed. The area that I believe you are more concerned about is most likely your flank area. You would be an excellent candidate for some Flank liposuction. This procedure would give you more definition in your waist, giving you more of the Silhouette you are seeking. I would recommend following up with your plastic surgeon to let him/her know your concerns and to discuss your options. (Heather Rocheford, MD, Minneapolis Plastic Surgeon)
Postoperative fullness to the abdomen after abdominoplasty
It is important to keep a trimmer weight if you want to have the best shape possible. In addition to external fat under the skin, there is also a component of intraabdominal fat. This can be reduced with overall weight loss and exercise. (Francis (Frank) William Rieger, MD, Tampa Plastic Surgeon)
Unhappy tummy tuck
It looks like your doctor did an excellent job but that you still carry excess weight and fat. Perhaps a good program of diet and exercise will help you maximize the surgical result. Some liposuction that couldn’t have been done safely with the tummy tuck might help. But no need to be disappointed with your doctor. (Richard P. Rand, MD, FACS, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
Dissatisfaction with tummy tuck
A before photo would be very useful. You aren’t skinny and the bulging in your back is based on excess weight and not the surgical technique. We aren’t magicians and have to work with what you present, rather than an unrealistic ideal. (Robert L. Kraft, MD, New York Plastic Surgeon)
