Cost of tummy tuck
Cost varies by your surgeon’s experience, the size of your case and your surgeon’s practice philosophy. One surgeon’s tummy tuck is not equivalent to another’s. It also varies by your location. Some areas of the country are also more expensive than others.
The range here is substantial, but a good mid-point is around $10,000. Get several estimates and then compare for your situation and location.
The cost of a tummy tuck is somewhat dependent upon where you live, somewhat dependent upon the surgeon, somewhat dependent upon where it is performed and somewhat dependent upon the details of your surgery. Most centers will have a standard cost that can go up or down based on your specific characteristics. At our center it is between $5000 and $12000 with most being in the $7000-$8000
One should never shop by price alone for something as significant as a tummy tuck. That being said, there are many of us who do these surgeries in an office operating room which can save you some money on facility fees. In my practice a full abdominoplasty takes about 2 hrs to perform and runs around $5600. This includes the anesthesiologist (board certified) and all facility fees.
I use deep sedation and a combination of tumescent and local anesthesia for patients near their ideal body weight without significant health risks. Otherwise, I do the procedure at a surgical center where the fee is around $1500 more. Utah is a relatively inexpensive area in the country for cosmetic surgery and you may expect to pay a little more in your area.
The abdominoplasty procedure is for men and women who are bothered by loose abdominal skin and abdominal fat deposits that do not go away after diet and exercise. The average cost range from $6800- $8500.
The price varies among surgeons and different parts of the country, and of course the cost for a full tummy tuck differs from the cost of a mini tummy tuck. In general, costs consist of surgeon’s fees, operating room charges (which can vary among office-based OR’s, surgery centers, and hospitals), and anesthesia fees. An average total cost in an accredited office based surgery center might
A tummy tuck is one of the biggest procedures performed by plastic surgeons. Price shopping for this procedure is truly unwise! As I have always said in the past “nothing predicts a good surgical result more than the surgeon’s experience”. In my practice, the cost includes surgical fee, operating room fee (also called the facility fee) and anesthesia cost. The surical fee does not change once the quote is given to the patient after a thorough in person evaluation. A written estimate is given to the patient at the time of the initial consultation.
The cost of a tummy tuck
The cost of a tummy tuck varies by regions in the country, by the quality of the plastic surgeon, and by how much is included or not included in the total fee quoted. In Hawaii, tummy tucks run between $8,000 – $15,000.
There are three basic components in any surgery:
- surgeon’s fee
- anesthesia fee
- cost of surgery center
Tummy tucks are the central surgery in a Mommy Makeover. Obviously, if the tummy tuck is part of a Mommy Makeover, the price becomes less for multiple surgeries. Some surgeons also offer discounts in a given month.
When looking for a tummy tuck surgeon, always choose a Board Certified plastic surgeon, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Your anesthesiologist should be Board Certified with privileges at a major hospital. The surgery center at which you are having your surgery should be nationally certified, and not just a doctor’s office. AAAASF certification is normally the gold standard for a plastic surgeon’s surgery center. Because of the complexity of a tummy tuck, your surgeon should do, on the average, five to seven tummy tucks per month, and preferably eight or more per month.
At the Mommy Makeover Institute of Hawaii, the tummy tuck has become our second most popular procedure after breast augmentations.
The price of a tummy tuck can vary depending on the specifics of each patient’s anatomy and the different techniques that are needed to transform you into your ideal form. Some patients only require a mini tummy tuck ($4600.00) if the majority of their problem is below the belly button and they are close to their ideal weight. This can be combined with liposuction if there is excess fatty tissue extending in the hip and thigh areas (mini tummy tuck with liposuction $5150.00).
If your problem is more widespread on the abdomen and involves excess skin and tissue both above and below the belly button or if there is a separation of the muscles (as is common after pregnancy or weight gain) then a full tummy tuck may be required ($5700.00).
Also, if fatty tissue involves the hips and thighs, a full tummy tuck may be combined with liposuction to give maximal improvement of that region (fully tummy tuck with liposuction of hips and thighs $6900.00).
These price approximations are based on my practice’s fee schedule. Obviously, they will vary from one facility to another and in different regions of the country.
Tummy tuck after cesarian section is one of the most common operations we perform. Often after a cesarian section the tummy muscles are loose, there is often loose skin and sometimes a bulge in the tummy above the c-section incision. In a tummy tuck we remove excess fat, repair the muscles if necessary and remove the loose hanging skin.
The result is a tummy which is flat and tight. At the Plastic Surgery Clinic perform several hundred tummy tuck procedures per year. Patients are delighted in their new look. I had a patient tell me just recently that we had changed her life.
The cost of a tummy tuck depends on the complexity of your problem but generally ranges between $7000 to $10,000.
The cost will vary by region and indeed the individual surgeon. There are some costs that the surgeon does not have control over, (OR fee, anesthesiologist fee, cost of supplies, etc;). As of this writing the cost can range from 6,000 to 10,000 USD. Please do not have cost as the most important thing in your decision. Cheap can become expensive in a hurry if something untoward happens. Best to see a board certified plastic surgeon. They will help you through the process.
The cost of a tummy tuck varies depending on the extent of the procedure and the amount of liposuction that is combined with the procedure. The extent of the procedure can range from a mini tummy tuck to an full tummy tuck. This affects the amount of time that the procedure takes, and therefore the cost.
Typically, a tummy tuck in Albany, NY costs around $7500.
This includes the operating room, anesthesia, and all of the necessary post operative care. This would include an average amount of liposuction done with the tummy tuck. If more extensive suctioning is needed, the cost might slightly rise.
For a mini tummy tuck, the cost is closer to the $5000 range.
A consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area would be the next step. They should be able to assess your belly and discuss the different options with you. At that time, a more precise price quote coud be given.
