I had a tummy tuck 3 months ago. I oil & message the scar but I see scar tissue, what can I do? (
scar appearance
Aug 14, 2018
Thank you for your question and your pictures. Scars take a while to mature and may actually get darker before they get lighter. I would continue the scar massage that you described. In addition, there are many silicone based scar treatments that are available that may also improve the appearance. It is also very important to used sunscreen or cover your scar to prevent sun exposure for the first 6 months while the scar is maturing. If you are still unhappy with its appearance at 6 months...
Breast implant squeezed very hard, could it be damaged?
Breast implant squeeze
Jun 20, 2018
Thank you for your question. It would be unlikely that a hug would rupture your implant. If your implants are saline, any damage would be immediately recognizable as the implant would deflate. Rupture in silicone implants are more difficult to recognize. If your pain persist or worsens I would recommend following up with your plastic surgeon. He or she may recommend imaging of the implant. Best of luck for a quick recovery.
Is my body supposed to look like this after surgery?
postop abdominoplasty
Jun 20, 2018
Thank you for your question. From your photos you look like you are very recently postop. Likely you are still swollen and things may change significantly over the next couple of months. I would recommend that you follow up closely with your plastic surgeon. Wearing the garment as directed by your surgeon is also important. Best of luck in your continued recovery.
I was accidentally kicked in stomach, could I have messed up my mesh and tummy tuck? 3.5 wks post
Tummy tuck
May 15, 2018
Thank you for your question. It would be unlikely that your suffered any damage to your repair in this setting. If you had persistent pain, swelling or bruising after this I would see your surgeon as soon as possible. Likely the area may feel more firm and have decreased sensation as a result of the procedure and may take several months to return to normal. Best of luck in your continued recovery..

Breast augmentation
May 15, 2018
Thank you for your question. It is unlikely that your did any damage to your implant getting up from a chair. Some sensation of movement may be normal depending upon the type of implant used. If your pain is worsening or the shape of you breast is changing rapidly I would be concerned. It is always good to keep in touch with your surgeon, particularly in the early postoperative period. Best of luck in your recovery.
I am 3 weeks post op and my belly button has been closed like this since day 1
Tummy tuck
May 15, 2018
Good morning and thank you for your question. It is not unusual to have some swelling of your umbilicus post op. At least looking at your picture, it appears that the skin is all viable at 3 weeks. I would expect this swelling to go down over the next few months. I would avoid forcing anything into you belly button. If you have questions, you should not be afraid to ask your surgeon even if he or she is 'busy.' Best of luck in your recovery.
Is there anything I should worry about regarding my 2 year old implants when traveling to Everest
Implants and travel
May 15, 2018
Thank you for your question. The altitude and helicopter travel should not affect your breast implants. You may find that your breasts may be more sensitive to the cold. Enjoy your tour.
Pimple like bump on incision at 14 weeks
Stitch abscess
Mar 29, 2018
Thank you for your questions.
Likely this is a stitch abscess which may be caused by failure of absorbable suture to dissolve completely. This is not that uncommon and may resolve spontaneously with drainage or removal of a piece of suture if present. Pain, fever, swelling and redness may be signs of an infection and should be evaluated immediately by your surgeon. Best of luck in your continued recovery.
Where do I start to get my insurance to pay for tummy tuck?
Insurance covering a tummy tuck
Mar 29, 2018
Good morning,
Thank you for your question. Services covered by your insurance company may vary depending upon your plan. Most insurances do not cover an abdominoplasty per se as it is considered a cosmetic procedure. Some insurance plans may cover a panniculectomy, which is the removal of the excess overhanging skin which may be coupled with reinforcement of the underlying fascia. Typically, this would only be covered in the setting of skin breakdown or rashes. Your insurance plan may also...
How to minimize Breast Reduction scars?
Breast reduction scars
Feb 21, 2018
Thank you for your question. There are many ways to help minimize your scars. Of course they should be guided by your plastic surgeon. Some people may be more prone to hypertrophic scars and keloids depending upon their skin type and these may need prompt attention should the begin to appear. Almost all patients will benefit from scar massage, silicone sheets/gel and minimizing sun exposure (SPF 50 sunscreen) during the first 6 months of healing. Best wishes for a great recovery.

Botox duration
Jan 29, 2018
Thank you for your question. Most patients have a duration of effect lasting at least 3 months. Some even longer. I would not expect your results to wear off that quickly. I have not seen much variation in Botox based on activity either. I would recommend that you see a board certified plastic surgeon for your injections and perhaps they can give you some better guidance.
Kind regards,
Full or mini tummy tuck needed, advice?
Full vs Mini
Dec 20, 2017
Thank you for your question. I think that either option could yield a good result depending upon what you are looking for. At least from the photos you submitted, it appears that most of the excess skin is on the lower part of your belly. If this is the case a mini may be appropriate and would have the advantage of a limited scar. If there is additional loose skin and muscle laxity in the upper abdomen I think that a traditional abdominoplasty may be a better procedure in that it is able to...
Am I supposed to feel nauseous and have continuous headaches one week after Breast Augmentation?
Headache and nausea after breast augmentation
Dec 19, 2017
Thank you for your question. I would say that headache and nausea are not a normal part of breast augmentation. However, both of these can be side effects of narcotic pain medications if you are taking them. If not I would follow up with your plastic surgeon. A measured fever, redness of incisions, increasing pain or drainage from your incisions may be signs of infection and should be evaluated immediately by your surgeon. Best wishes for an uneventful recovery.
10 days post reduction noticed some bruising, scabbing, and some brown gooey stuff on my steri st
BRUISING AFTER BREAST REDUCTION
Dec 18, 2017
It is not uncommon to have a fair amount of bruising after a breast reduction. This may have been due to bleeding either during the surgery or immediately thereafter. As this old blood breaks down it may have a brownish color. Worrisome signs may include increasing redness, warm or tenderness around the incisions, pus from the incisions or blackening of the skin.
My exercise is swimming. How soon can I return to the pool?
Swimming after panniculectomy
Feb 22, 2016
It would depend upon your wound healing. I would not recommend swimming or soaking for at a minimum 4 weeks. This may be delayed if there are any open areas following the procedure.
