Answer Snippet
I’m 24 and I can’t decide whether to have a boob job or an uplift. Can you help me please?
option number three
Sep 1, 2015
I would strongly encourage a third option–breast reduction. This would give you the lifting that you want and reduce the weight of your breast, which would eliminate much of the downward pulling you currently have.
Does Liposuction Get Rid of the Fat Cells So They Don’t Return?
Are fat cells gone?
Oct 9, 2013
Typically, by the time you’ve passed puberty, your body has all the fat cells it is going to have.

With liposuction, you can go in and remove fat cells from stubborn areas. This would make if very unlikely to accumulate fat in the treated area.

Overweight patients are not good candidates for liposuction. After the procedure, they are likely to begin storing additional fat in untreated areas.

Can I Get Liposuction if my BMI is “Normal”?
Liposuction with normal BMI
Sep 4, 2013
Absolutely. Liposuction is intended for patients at a healthy weight who have areas of fat that are resistant to weight loss. Liposuction is not a weight-loss tool. Patients that have a BMI in the healthy range should expect a superior result compared to overweight patients.
Very Active Gal Wants Tummy Tuck and Lift-BA, Am I Too Heavy, but I Am Fit?
very active gal
May 22, 2013
In general, the closer a patient is to their ideal body weight, the greater the degree of improvement.

If you are at a stable weight, then I think you would be fine going ahead with surgery

If you were to lose a substantial amount of weight after having surgery, the results may end up being a little bit looser than you prefer

Could I Avoid a Lift with a Larger Implant?
lift or larger implant
Mar 7, 2013
No, a larger implant will not lift your breasts

a larger implant can fill more loose skin, but will probably worsen the drooping

if you skin has demonstrated a tendency to stretch, you might want to avoid larger implants

the only way to correct drooping is with a lift

the most common way to restore volume is with an implant

Can You Use Decongestants Before Surgery?
decongestant
Jan 23, 2013
I do not see a problem with using decongestants

We do not have patients discontinue decongestant use prior to surgery

If your blood pressure happens to be elevated slightly, the anesthesiologist can easily manage that

Can Tuberous Breasts Look Normal After Explant?
Can tuberous breasts look normal
Jan 9, 2013
You may be happiest with smaller implants

I would recommend removal of the existing implants

You could go without implants for 6 to 12 months and allow for maximal retraction of your breast skin

You can then re-evaluate and decide if you would like to start over with smaller implants

Do I Need Implants Along with Lift to Achieve Fullness?
Do I Need Implants
Jan 8, 2013
Even after your weight loss, you appear to have enough breast volume that an implant would not be necessary

you might even consider some breast tissue removal at the time of the lifting

You can always add the implants at a later date if you desire

Remember that the more weight that you add to your breasts, the more likely there will be skin stretching in the future.

Is It Safe to Have a Breast Lift and Tummy Tuck when You Are Taking Medication for Hypothyroidism?
Thyroid medication and mommy makeover
Jan 2, 2013
Taking thyroid medication is very common

At least half of the women I see for surgery are taking supplemental thyroid medication

I have not seen or heard about a surgical problem related to supplemental thyroid medication

Overactive thyroid would be a concern, but an underactive thyroid which is treated should not be a problem

How Long Does It Take to Completely Recover from Liposuction?
How long for liposuction
Dec 19, 2012
Fat will generally take longer to heal than other body tissues

The healing process goes through phases

Initial watery swelling is usually gone by 2 or 3 weeks

Firm, rubbery swelling may take 2 or 3 months to resolve

Skin tone should continue to improve and the final result will be seen after 6 months or more

I Am Schedule to Have a Tummy Tuck with Breast Lift. Doc Says I May End Up Having a T Scar After? (photo
T-scar after tummy tuck
Dec 14, 2012
Based on your photo, I would guess you would have a T-scar

It is unlikely that all of the skin below you belly button would be removed

If your belly button was lower to start with, it would be more likely that you wouldn’t need the vertical portion of the scar

Even with the T-scar, you will like the improvement

Implant Removal After 9 Wks?
Implant removal
Dec 13, 2012
Infection requiring implant removal is always possible, but very uncommon

Most patients do get their implants replaced and do not have additional problems with infection

It is important to wait a few months to give your body a chance to heal more thoroughly before proceeding to another surgery

Pectoral Exercise Before Breast Implant Removal?
Pectoral exercises
Nov 30, 2012
I don’t see any advantage to increasing chest muscle exercises prior to surgery

I would suggest not doing strenuous activity for the first 3 or 4 weeks after surgery

After 4 weeks, I think the exercise would be beneficial

How Much Surgery is Considered ‘Reasonable’?
How much surgery
Nov 16, 2012
Most patients do best with implants behind the muscle

Some patients have enough breast tissue to cover the implant adequately and the implant can be placed in front of the muscle

To get the best result, you should consider taking out the other implant, letting the space heal and starting over with submuscular implants

Is a Compression Garment Needed for Arms and Thighs?
Is compression garment needed
Nov 7, 2012
Your thighs should be more comfortable with the compression

I usually don’t use arm compression because it can swelling in the hands

Not all surgeons use compression after liposuction

I believe it makes most patients more comfortable

I do not think it plays a significant role in the final result
