How to Laser treat Rosacea?
Several lasers can effectively treat rosacea
Apr 16, 2013
In people with rosacea, laser treatments are most helpful with the redness and broken blood vessels (telangiectasias). The pulse dye laser (PDL) is the most effective treatment against these symptoms. Intense pulse light (IPL) devices are also effective, but the optimal device is the PDL. People will undergo anywhere from 1-5 treatments over several months to calm symptoms. The energy from the laser will close off the unnecessary tiny blood vessels that make us red and…
How to Choose Botox Doctor?
Finding a Doctor for Botox Treatments – Trust, Training, Experience, Value
Apr 1, 2013
To choose a physician for Botox treatments, or any procedure, I would start by asking your friends, family, of one of your own doctors. A referral from someone you know may help you end your search quickly.

Another place to search is the internet. I would look for proper training/board certification in dermatology or plastic surgery and consistently good reviews from other patients. Research carefully though, since a large presence online does not necessarily…

Non-ablative Fractional Laser After Accutane?
Fractional Laser Safe and Effective for Acne Scars
Mar 20, 2013
Non-ablative fractional laser is definitely an option to treat many types of acne scars, but if you have just completed a course of Accutane, I would wait the recommended 6 months. Many of us in practice know that non-ablative laser 2 months after Accutane is unlikely to cause unwanted side effects, but you have come this far in improving your complexion. Why take the risk? As one previous comment mentioned, your scars will also continue to improve on their own for months…
Can I Still Move my Forehead After Botox?
You should not be frozen after getting Botox in the forehead
May 11, 2012
Every face is different, as are everyone's goals, but a Botox treatment on the forehead should be able to relax forehead lines without completely freezing your face. My goal with most patients is to smooth/soften the problematic lines, but allow them to move their eyebrows up and down several millimeters – just not enough to make creases in their skin.

I would recommend finding an experienced physician you trust, and starting slowly.

3 Weeks After Receiving Botox, when Can I Massage my Face?
OK to touch your face 3 weeks after Botox treatments
Oct 14, 2011
Botox is almost completely absorbed by the target nerve/muscle within one hour. I recommend that my patients not massage the area for 3 or 4 hours, which errs on the safe side. Relax, and feel free to resume your normal activities!
Does Botox for hyperhidrosis work?
Botox for excessive sweating works
Mar 8, 2010
Using Botox in the underarms, hands, feet, and face is a very effective treatment for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). I have patients who undergo the treatment because they sweat through one or more shirts in a day, and patients who get treated prior to a big event, such as a wedding, big speech or presentation. Everyone has found the treatment to be very satisfying or even life-changing.

A typical person uses at least 100 units of Botox, and insurance companies may not cover the…

After Botox, when can I touch the treated area?
Gentle contact is OK after Botox
Feb 10, 2010
After Botox treatments, I advise my patients not to massage or press on the treated areas for at least 4 hours. Gentle contact such as washing or make-up application are OK, but should be minimized. Botox is injected into a specific set of muscles to exert a specific effect. To minimize the risk of having the Botox unintentionally affect the wrong facial muscles, give your body 4 hours to absorb the medication. There are no studies that can specify an exact time frame. My…
