I advise patients not to exercise for at least six weeks- similar to a woman that has had a C-section. It is most appropriate to have your activity questions addressed by your surgeon. After several years of submuscular implant placement, I have come to the conclusion that there is so much variability even from one side of a patient's breasts, and chest wall and muscles-that I can not say that 50ccs will correct that difference. My best advice is to work with the base dimension of your breast measurement and find an implant that corresponds to that measurement.

Given your photos, it would be difficult to completely determine that as your arms are lifted, which changes the exam and your appearance. Patients frequently have an assumption that a very large implant may " lift" the breast, and avoid the needed for a breast lift.

If there is significant excess skin, a very large implant will unfortunately accelerate the sagging process. You would be best suited getting opinions of a few different plastic surgeons.

Buccal fat pad excision is performed more frequently in patients undergoing upper jaw surgery were surgical elevation of the jaws may cause excessive fullness in the cheeks. It is much less frequently performed in other situations.

I have had an experience that a patient wanted the implants removed within the first 2 weeks after surgery. I suggested that she wait to allow the settling process to occur; but she instead had another surgeon honor her request- and he removed them.

She returned to me for a request for a second augmentation within 6 months. It would be wise to allow your tissues and your feelings to settle for a while before you make your final decision.

Generally speaking, closing a Diastasis is more of an aesthetic issue than a functional issues as it is not truly a hernia. However, I have had a few patients inform me after an abdominoplasty ( the Diastasis was repaired) that their back pain was markedly improved.

I would not recommend to patients to have an abdominoplasty solely to improve chronic back pain; if it it incidentally helps, then that is an added benefit.

Regardless of the surgery planned, smoking increases the risk of complications significantly-this has been studied in plastic surgery as well as other surgical specialties. If you are concerned about accommodating your schedule, you will likely have a complication with healing that will take much longer to recover from than scheduling your surgery in the future.

Very few patients benefit from a mini abdominoplasty, since most women notice some muscle weakness or laxity above their belly button. If you are one of the fortunate ladies that has tight muscles above the belly button then a " mini" may be acceptable to you.

Be sure that you completely relax your abdomen during your examination.

Unfortunately there is no direct correlation between implant size and cup size. You may have noticed that some of your friends have the same size implant as others but have a different appearance and bra size. Moreover there is no "standard' among bra manufacturing companies to insure consistency. The best recommendation that I may suggest is to visit with your plastic surgeon and have he or she examine you thoroughly. Then try different size and style implant sizers to get comfortable...
