Can my fat pocket under the buttock area be minimised with a form of liposuction?
Gluteal liposuction
May 7, 2019
This area (often referred to as the “banana roll”) can absolutely be improved with liposuction. As you can see, the deformity often extends from the inner to outer thigh, areas that also need to be addressed in order to achieve an optimal contour. Care must be exercised in this location, however, since disrupting the natural gluteal crease during liposuction can have disastrous effects on overall buttock shape and definition. I hope this helps!

Do ultrasonic liposuction cavitation slimming machines work?
Non-Invasive fat removal vs traditional liposuction
May 5, 2019
Non-invasive fat removal devices are increasing number and popularity, promising patients easily attainable results with no downtime. However, the expense for treating large areas, the delay in result appearance and the frequent need for multiple treatments are notable downsides. The amount of fat that you are hoping to remove will likely exceed the capabilities of a non-invasive device. In general, these devices work by destroying fat cells, the byproducts of which are then removed by the…
How much time is usually enough for liposuction recovery?
Recovery timeline following liposuction
May 5, 2019
In order to give you a better idea of the recovery timeline, it would help to know what areas of the body you are looking to have treated. Discomfort following liposuction is common and typically correlates with the amount of fat removed. For instance, an individual who undergoes removal of a small amount of fat from the chin and neck can be expected to have a shorter, less painful recovery than someone who had liposuction of the entire trunk. However, every patient has a unique healing…
How long after liposuction are pain and swelling normal?
Recovery from trunk liposuction – compression is key
May 5, 2019
Discomfort following liposuction is common and typically correlates with the amount of fat removed. For instance, an individual who undergoes removal of a small amount of fat from the chin and neck can be expected to have a shorter, less painful recovery than someone who had liposuction of the entire trunk. However, every patient has a unique healing timeline and your surgeon should guide you through this process. The soreness should gradually resolve within 3-5 days, however in some…
Crescent Mastopexy and Implants for More Youthful Breasts?
Mastopexy (breast lift) Technique with Implants
May 3, 2019
A crescent lift is attractive to many patients because it promises minimal scarring disguised within the top portion of the areola. This technique, however, is typically reserved for correcting minor asymmetries in nipple position. In your case, a breast implant will be useful in restoring a youthful appearance to the upper portion of your breast. A mastopexy, or breast lift, procedure will help centralize your breast tissue and nipple over the implant to give you an aesthetically pleasing…
What type and size of breast implant should I get?
Augmentation/Mastopexy (Breast lift with implants)
May 3, 2019
Volume loss at the top portion of the breast is common after pregnancy. In your case, restoring a youthful appearance to the breasts will require a breast implant. The choice of implant size and shape is dictated by your chest anatomy and desired post-operative appearance. After a thorough exam, it is important to have a discussion with your surgeon about your implant options. It is likely that you will also benefit from a simultaneous lift. This is often used to centralize the nipple over…
How long will it take to heal?
Wound following mastopexy/augmentation
May 2, 2019
Following a breast lift with augmentation, the “T’” portion of the incision is the most common area to undergo breakdown and develop a wound. Often, these resolve with ointment, dressing changes and close observation. Once healed, a revision of the scars can be discussed. I usually wait a couple of months before revising scars on the breast in order to allow the surrounding skin to stretch, increasing the safety of any revisionary procedures. Patience is the key to ultimately achieving a gre…
Do my nipples seem low after surgery?
Nipple position following breast augmentation
May 2, 2019
At only 5 days post surgery, it is common for the implants to appear “high.” With time, the implants will “settle” as the skin beneath the nipples is stretched under the weight of the implant. This typically results in the nipples appearing more “central” on the chest given that the mass of the implant is now more centered beneath the nipples. This settling, however, does not elevate the nipples on the chest wall. To accomplish this, a mastopexy (breast lift) is required using incisions a…
Hyperpigmentation after Laser Treatment.
Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation – cause and treatment
Mar 2, 2019
Thank you for your question and helpful photograph. Patients with darker and deviated skin types are susceptible to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Melanocytes are cells within the skin that create and distribute the visible pigment that gives your skin its natural color. Following trauma, which in this case was the laser treatments, your skin’s melanocytes responded by creating excess pigment and distributing it in a non-uniform pattern, hence the irregular brown…
Can Laser TX for facial telangiectasia cause more to grow?
Facial Telangiectasias
Mar 2, 2019
Thank you for your question and believe it or not this is a very common experience. The appeal of vascular lasers lies in the fact that targeted blood vessels vanish instantly, providing immediate satisfaction to both the patient and physician. However, these laser treatments do not address the underlying cause of the telangiectasis being treated. Oily skin, as seen in individuals with a condition called rosacea, precipitates a state of chronic…
