Tummy tuck scar revision. Can it be done at the clinic under local anesthesia?
Scarring Is Unpredictable
Nov 4, 2017
Without a photo to evaluate your current scar, it is difficult to say whether you would have any improvement. That said, a simple scar revision can be performed under local anesthesia. However, the appearance of the new scar cannot be predicted, as everybody heals differently.
2 weeks post full TT. Had a seroma drained two days ago. Despite this, I look like I’m pregnant. Is
Another Seroma
Oct 28, 2017
Thank you for being proactive and posting this question. Since you have already had a seroma formation, this could be a redevelopment of such. Seromas can reform very quickly even after a draining. If this area has increase in size from when the seroma was drained, it is likely a reoccurance and you may need a drain placed to help resolve the situation. I would recommend contacting your surgeon at your earliest convenience for an evaluation.
Do men actually need more Botox (20x the ammount of Botox) in comparison to women?
Botox Needs Vary From Person-to-Person
Oct 28, 2017
This is a great question. While it is true that different people will need different dosage amounts of Botox to improve an area, the figure you gave of 20 times more is excessive and does not fit within treatment parameters. In general, men usually do require more Botox than women, due to being larger in size and having more muscle mass. However, everyone is unique and the amount of Botox needed is not strictly a gender difference. The size…
Please help me identify what has caused my lips to be permanently disfigured!
Lip Asymmetry
Oct 28, 2017
I’m sorry to hear about your experience and understand your concern, as the asymmetry of your lip is noticeable. It is hard to determine exactly what the etiology of this irregularity is from only examining a photograph. It could be caused by anything from too much product injected, to a scar formation. Since your injections were in 2016, the Juvederm usually used in the lips should have dissolved by now. I would recommend seeking a…
Is this normal after Juvederm on forehead?
Should Improve With Time
Oct 28, 2017
Hello – Sorry to hear you are having challenges after your recent treatment. You are correct, treating the glabellar lines is not an FDA approved injection area. However, some plastic surgeons will use fillers in what is known as “off label” areas. When having injections in these areas, it is important that your physician is knowledgeable of the anatomy and experienced in injection techniques for that specific area. In regards to your recent experience, it…
I have a bulge on my lower right side, how likely is this swelling and how likely is this a surgery
Possible Seroma
Oct 14, 2017
Sorry to hear about your difficulties with your recent tummy tuck. From looking at your photographs, it appears you most likely have a postoperative seroma, which is a collection of fluid under the skin that sometimes develops after surgery. I understand your surgeon is 2,000 miles away, but I would recommend contacting a surgeon in your area to evaluate your abdomen. If you were my patient, I would want to know about this issue as soon as possible. I wish you…
I wish my lips were just a little fuller after Juvederm XC. What are my options?
More filler is an option
Sep 2, 2017
Hello – This is not an uncommon question after lip augmentation with filler. This is because the lips will often appear to be slightly fuller in the office due to the trauma from the needle. When the swelling subsides, some patients wish for the fuller look they had in the office. For your treatment, you likely had either Juvederm Ultra XC (1mL) or Juvederm Vobella XC (0.55 mL) as both can be used in lip augmentation. Both are hyaluronic acid…
Is this blister/ bubble of fluid and redness to skin a big concern? 2 weeks post op TT
Needs immediate evaluation
Sep 2, 2017
Although it is difficult to tell from a photograph, this looks like a potentially very serious complication. I understand your surgeon is not available, but you should contact the surgeon’s office immediately. If no one in the office is able to evaluate you, I recommend visiting an emergency room or urgent care facility for an evaluation today.
I have growing redness around belly button following a tummy tuck, is this normal?
Probable complication
Sep 2, 2017
I’m sorry you are having such difficulty after your operation. From the photographs you’ve posted, it is difficult to tell with any certainty what is occurring to your umbilicus (belly button). However, from your description and what I can appreciate from the photos, this does not appear to be a normal post-operative occurrence. I recommend contacting your surgeon as soon as possible. If you were my patient, I would not want to wait to address this during your…
What happens if you don’t wear a binder after a TT?
Compression garments help
Sep 2, 2017
After an abdominoplasty (or tummy tuck), it is very important to wear any compression garment recommended by your surgeon. Compression garments can help sped up recovery by lessening tissue edema and decreasing the risk of a post-operative seroma. In my experience, patients often feel more comfortable wearing the garment and several of my patients have opted to wear the compression garment for a longer period of time than what I require.
Does a full TT have tight sutures on the stomach muscles?
Sutures on the rectus muscles
Sep 2, 2017
Yes, a full traditional abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) should address the abdominal muscles, specifically the rectus muscles. These are the muscles that form what we traditionally consider the “six-pack abs.” Over time, the strong tissue between these muscles can become attenuated (i.e., stretched). During a tummy tuck, sutures are used to decrease the distance between these muscles, thereby tightening the abdomen in a horizontal vector. This improves the overall…
Can I get away with just implants? I’m 22 years old, no children, 5 ft 7 in, 120 pounds.
Ptosis
Aug 19, 2017
To begin, I would like to congratulate you on your recent weight loss. Examining your photographs, it appears a breast lift would be needed to achieve optimal results. Due to the ptosis (drooping) present, some surgeons might perform a breast augmentation alone with a large implant placed above the muscle. However, I do not believe that this would be advisable due to the size of the implant needed to achieve an acceptable cosmetic result. As it relates to your second…
Where should the belly button be located post TT?
Depends on the type of abdominoplasty
Aug 19, 2017
This is a great question. However, the answer is dependent upon the type of abdominoplasty the surgeon performs. The normal anatomical position of the umbilicus (belly button) is even with the top of the iliac crests (the hip bone). With a traditional abdominoplasty the belly button should remain in this location. However, if the surgeon performs a “floating umbilical” abdominoplasty, the belly button will be lower than it was prior to surgery. This type of surgery is…
I am 6 weeks post op breast augmentation and noticed redness around one incision. Does this seem nor
Potentially Normal
Aug 19, 2017
It is hard see clearly in the photos. Although it may be normal, I recommend contacting your surgeon as soon as possible for an in-person evaluation.
How long should I wait after getting Botox for crows feet and my forehead to have IPL?
Botox & IPL
Jun 22, 2017
I commend you on being cautious with elective procedures and inquiring about potential side effects. It should be completely safe for you to have IPL at this time, since it has been over two weeks since your Botox injections. I usually recommend patients wait at least 24 hours after Botox before getting an IPL treatment.
