When can I wear a tummy tuck garment or binder after surgery? 12 days post op.
tummy tuck after care
Jan 4, 2018
Hello and thank you for your question. I usually place an abdominal binder on my patients right on the operating room table as soon as we are finished with their procedure. They will wear the binder until their drains are removed (usually 10-14 days). After that they will wear a compression garment for about 6-8 weeks. As for the steri-strips, I recommend for my patients to keep them on until they fall off on their own. I have found that it helps keep their incisions flat and thin….

Changing implant after augmentation with lift
Jan 3, 2018
Thank you for sharing your question and pictures. From what you described, in order to achieve the desired look you would need a lift. A lift would help reduce the size of your areola, and also address the “sagging”. With a lift you have to understand the amount of scars that are involved, and potential changes in nipple sensitivity. As for changing your implant size, that is always a possibility, but truthfully going from 300 to 340 doesn’t make much of a difference. 40 cc increase is like…
How Long Do I Have to Sleep on my Back After Breast Augmentation?
Sleeping position after breast augmentation
Dec 28, 2017
Thank you for your questions. I usually tell my patients to sleep on their back for about 4-6 weeks depending on if a round or shaped implant is used. I usually tell patients to avoid sleeping on their stomach for at least the first few months. Try sleeping on the couch with your back against the arm of the couch, with few pillows behind you to prop you up and with your side leaning against the back of the couch. This may make it a little more tolerable to sleep on your back…
Breast Augmentation Recovery: What Can I Expect?
Breast augmentation recovery time
Dec 20, 2017
Thank you for your question. Generally the first couple of days after breast augmentation you will have some discomfort mostly due to muscle spasm. During this time it helps if you sleep at a 45 degree angle to help with the swelling. Most patients, depending on their occupation, go back to work anywhere between 5-7 days. As a general rule my patients are restricted from pushing, pulling, lifting anything more than 5 lb. for 4-6 weeks. Most scars are placed so that even during…
Do I need to pay for subsequent consultation if I have concerns about a recent surgery?
Paying for post op visits
Dec 12, 2017
Thank you for your questions. Every office is different, however, most practices are very good about seeing their post op patients and addressing any questions or concerns they may have. This may have been just a mis-understanding. I would recommend for you to call back to clarify that you are an existing patient with a post op question…. Best of luck

Breast implant removal
Apr 26, 2017
Without pictures and an in person consultation it is difficult to accurately answer your question, however here are some general guidelines which may help. In general when you have had larger implants and choose to go to smaller implants depending on the size decrease and how much loose skin and ptosis (sagging) you already have, you may need to have a lift. The type of lift and scars depend on how much skin needs to be removed and how much your nipple and areola need to be moved up to…
Should I be worried about my scar healing? I am 11 days post op and very happy with my results so
Breast augmentation scar
Apr 25, 2017
Thank you for sharing your pictures. From your pictures it doesn’t appear to be anything concerning. Sometimes the deeper sutures can make the early scar appear puckered. You are still very early in your post operative period and with the sutures removed yesterday, sometimes there is some residual puckering or fullness that may make it appear uneven. Allow for the swelling to go down and for the healing process to complete and usually all of this will flatten out and resolve….

Unhappy with Shape of breast
Apr 25, 2017
Thank you for sharing your photos. You do have the option of breast lift with areola reduction if you are satisfied with the size of your breast. This will help to improve the shape of your breast and give it a more youthful appearance. If you are interested in increasing the volume of your breast as well, then you can consider a breast lift/areola reduction with addition of an implant. You can explore these options more in depth with an in person consultation with a board certified…
Will my implants settle normal? 1 week post-op.
Implant settling post op
Apr 12, 2017
Thank you for your question and pictures. Your results look completely normal. You are only few days post-op and it is normal to have a swelling and for the implants to appear very high. It may take weeks to months for the implants to soften and settle all depending on how tight your skin and muscle were pre-op, your staring cup size, how large your implant is, if it is completely under the muscle or partially under the muscle. Sit back and let the healing process take it’s course. Keep your…
Left breast is swollen with +- 4Oz fluids. what is the best procedure to be done?
Swollen breast after augmentation
Apr 12, 2017
Thank you for your question and pictures. Some degree of swelling and asymmetry can be expected in the immediate post-operative period, however, 2 cup sizes is quite significant and not normal. From your description it maybe a hematoma and only a portion of it has liquified (what was seen on imaging). I would highly recommend that you contact and see your surgeon ASAP to have an in person evaluation to address this in a timely fashion. Best of Luck.

Am I a tummy tuck candidate?
Apr 12, 2017
Thank you for your picture and question. Based on what you have provided you seem like an excellent candidate for the procedure which would tighten your midline and resolve the bulge you are referring to and at the same time remove the excess skin giving you a flat, tight abdominal area. In some patients liposuction of the waist/hip area may help in enhancing the contour. For better assessment, I would encourage you to have an in person consultation with a board certified…

Uneven breast 3 weeks post op
Mar 6, 2017
Thank you for you question. It is still too early in your post op period so I wouldn’t worry about anything. It normally takes 6 months and in some a little longer for the tissue to adjust to the implants appropriately, for the swelling to subside and for the implants to drop in a more natural position. Please follow your surgeon’s post operative instructions and keep your followup appointment for in person assessment. Best of luck.

Immediately after breast augmentation
Mar 6, 2017
Thank you for your question and for sharing your picture. You just had your surgery and your body needs to heal and adjust so I wouldn’t panic so quickly. Your body needs time to heal and for swelling to subside and implants to adjust and the tissue to stretch appropriately. A lot of immediate post op asymmetry resolve with time as the area heals. Another thing to keep in mind is how you looked before your surgery- I don’t see your before picture to comment on any…
I am 6 weeks post Tummy Tuck and I now have an area that is “weeping”, what should I do?
fluid draining after tummy tuck
Feb 15, 2017
Thank you for your question. Without pictures it is difficult to assess, however any type of drainage 6 weeks after surgery is not normal. Depending on what other symptoms you are experiencing it maybe due to various reasons. I highly recommend for you to contact your surgeon as soon as possible to go in for an in person evaluation.
4 days post-op. Is this a sign of early contracture?
Breast Augmentation early post op
Feb 15, 2017
Thank you for your question and sharing your pictures. From your pictures you have a nice early post operative result. Remember that it takes time for the tissue to relax and shape itself. What you are experiencing is most likely normal early post-op air and fluid in the pocket which will get absorbed by your body naturally. This may happen at a slightly different rate between the two breast for various reasons. Capsular contracture normally takes some time (months) to develop. Of course I…
