Six days post op and my breasts still feel sore and tight…is it normal?
Six days post op and my breasts still feel sore and tight…is it normal? (Photo)
Jan 20, 2016
At one week post-op, it is normal to still have some swelling and for your breasts to feel tight, sore and firm. Over the next few months you will notice them softening. Give it some time and continue following your surgeon’s post-op instructions. ac
Will my implants come closer together?
Will my implants come closer together? (Photo)
Jan 20, 2016
Congratulations on your surgery! At just 5 days post op, it’s too soon to worry about the appearance of your breasts. Over the next several months, your implants will drop and fill out the lower portion your breast changing the shape. When you place your implants, they need to be centered behind your nipples. Placing them too close will cause your nipples to face outward instead of forward which is not ideal aesthetically. With that said, try not to worry and give it a few…
Scar looks a little red. Is it a sign of infection?
Scar looks a little red. Is it a sign of infection? (Photo)
Jan 20, 2016
At 5 weeks post-op, it would be a good idea to go see your surgeon for a follow up visit. If it’s an infection, you can be given a prescription at that time. If your surgeon thinks it’s something else like a suture trying to work itself out, that can be taken care of then as well. Best of luck. ac
30 year old mother of two and relatively healthy. Am I a good candidate for tummy tuck?

Jan 20, 2016
When you are considering a tummy tuck, it’s best to get as close to your goal weight as possible that is realistic to keep off. You are a candidate for a tummy tuck now, but would most likely achieve a better result if you lose some more weight. Best of luck. ac
Is it possible that I can get an augmentation without a breast lift?
Is it possible that I can get an augmentation without a breast lift? (Photo)
Jan 20, 2016
To get the best aesthetic result, it appears that you would benefit the most from a lift with augmentation based on the photos you posted. With that said, what matters most is your expectations. It’s important to give some thought about what result are you hoping to achieve? Many patients who are in your similar situation opt for an augmentation alone so they can benefit from the fullness immediately and plan their lift later after children. Look at photos and give it some…
Will my implants still drop and fluff? I’m 2 months. Am I on the right track?
Will my implants still drop and fluff? I’m 2 months. Am I on the right track? (Photo)
Jan 20, 2016
While implants can take anywhere from 3-6 months to drop and settle into place, at 2 months they appear to still be very high. Go see your surgeon for a follow up appointment and discuss your concerns. Perhaps ask about wearing a breast band and massage to help them drop and go from there. Keep in close contact with your surgeon so your progress can be tracked. Best of luck. ac
One breast seems to be hanging 7 days after breast surgery. Is that normal?

Jan 20, 2016
It’s difficult to appreciate what you are concerned with by the photo you posted. At 1 week post-op, you are quite early in your recovery. Your breasts will change in shape over the next several months as your implants drop. Try to focus on your recovery and following your surgeon’s post-op instructions. Continue to go to your follow up appointments so the changes in your breast can be tracked and re-evaluate in a few months. ac
Exercise after Breast Augmentation?
I am almost 6 weeks post surgery and have done no exercise to date. Just wondering when you think I am OK to start back at runni
Jan 20, 2016
It is hard to wait to start to exercise again especially if you are feeling better after your breast augmentation surgery. Typically, I ask that you wait 2 weeks before increasing your heart rate with walking. At around 3-4 weeks depending on how you are healing, I allow some easy exercise just nothing strenuous or running, yoga, weights, pilates, etc. At 6-8 weeks, you can return to your regular routine but slowly and listening to your body. You should ask your…
How can I decide between fat grafting to the breast or a breast augmentation? I would like one size
How can I decide between fat grafting to the breast or a breast augmentation? I would like one size increase to a C cup (Photo)
Jan 20, 2016
Either can be done depending on your expectations. Because fat grafting may need to be done more than once due to the fat being absorbed, implants are more reliable with or without a lift. If you really do not want a lift, you can always try an augmentation first and if you are unhappy with those results, you can always add a lift later. Best to see a board certified plastic surgeon for your best options after an exam and discussion about expectations. ac
Breast implants large size difference, possibly bottoming out. Can it be fixed?
Breast implants large size difference, possibly bottoming out. Can it be fixed? (Photo)
Jan 20, 2016
From the photos you posted, it doesn’t appear that you are bottoming out but an exam would be the best to know definitively. Many times, if you start off with any asymmetries getting an augmentation will enhance those asymmetries. Go see your surgeon for a follow up appt and if you are indeed bottoming out, you can discuss your revision options at that time. ac
My left implant has not dropped. Is this common?
My left implant has not dropped. Is this common?
Jan 19, 2016
It sounds like you are taking the appropriate steps by seeing your surgeon with your concern. As for an implant not dropping? It is not uncommon for one implant to drop quicker than the other, they don’t always cooperate and drop at the same time. Implants can take anywhere from 3-6 months to settle into place. I typically ask my patients to massage and wear a band if one is lagging behind the other. Sometimes, surgery is necessary to correct it but give it another…
2 months post op breast implants, what is this weird cyst thing on my incision?
2 months post op breast implants, what is this weird cyst thing on my incision? (Photo)
Jan 19, 2016
From the photos you posted, it appears that you have a spitting suture. Basically, one of the dissolvable sutures didn’t dissolve and is working it’s way up to the surface. Keep it clean with antibiotic ointment and go see your surgeon. It can happen with healing but should resolve once it’s removed. ac
Will I continue to drop at 10 weeks post-op? Am I bottoming out?
Will I continue to drop at 10 weeks post-op? Am I bottoming out? (Photo)
Jan 19, 2016
From the photos you posted, it doesn’t appear that you are bottoming out. However, your implants will continue to settle and in doing so, your breasts will continue to change in shape and get softer over the next few months. Wear a supportive bra and follow up with your surgeon to ease your concerns. ac
Could I have done something bad? 6 days post BA
Could I have done something bad? 6 days post BA (Photo)
Jan 19, 2016
It’s unlikely that you did anything to your implants. At just 6 days post-op, it is not unusual for one side to heal before the other and to have some asymmetry. Keep them supported, continue following your surgeon’s post-op instructions and contact your surgeon for a follow up appointment just to ease your concerns. ac
Will my breasts even out and get the same size and shape? 5 days after surgery now
Will my breasts even out and get the same size and shape? 5 days after surgery now (Photo)
Jan 18, 2016
Congratulations on your surgery! Don’t worry, at just 5 days post-op, it’s just too soon to worry. Any asymmetries should resolve on their own over the next several months. As you start to massage and your implants drop, your breasts will change in shape, start to become softer and they look and feel more like real breasts! Just be patient, discuss your concerns with your surgeon and give it time. Continue to follow post-op instructions and re-evaluate in a few months…
