Answer Snippet
If isolated neck lift “dog ears,” how is it corrected?
dog ear correction
Nov 11, 2017
When ever skin is removed the amount in the center is "cheated out" along the incision in something of an ellipse. The shorter the ellipse the shorter the incision and the more likely the 'dog ear' redundancy at the ends. to correct it just means the incision has to be made longer. the likelihood of a dogear is also dependent on the elasticity of the skin, as they tend to get much better over time in people with good skin elasticity. good luck, hope this helps.
How do I treat bumps and scars from lower lid surgery?
INCLUSION CYSTS
Nov 11, 2017
Not sure but these may be inclusion cysts from the sutures. a simple unroofing of the cyst may be best way to treat. Your surgeon can do this for you. if larger then may need a minor procedure to remove with local anesthesia.
Should I consider facelift or try filling the jawline with fillers?
fillers, fat graft and facelift
Nov 10, 2017
Hi, thanks for the question. I think fillers are great at small areas but have to be redone every few months. Well done fat grafts are great for the weight loss patient. Better photos would help. I think a repeat of the fat grafting is most likely answer. good luck!!
Breast lumps one year after breast fat augmentation
fat grafting lumps
Nov 10, 2017
This is one dilemma on the issue of fat grafting. there is usually some fat necrosis and lumps. not an issue in the buttock really but in the breast it needs evaluation with ultrasound, mammography and possible biosy to prevent an unrecognized cancer. personally I only fat graft breasts after removal (mastectomy) to avoid this issue. I recommend check ing with your surgeon but you might need to look up a breast cancer center to complete the workup and not miss...
Which procedures will help to reduce my c-section pouch?
csection recovery
Nov 10, 2017
Congratulations on the baby
I recommend allowing all the scars to settle down and for you to allow as much of the skin to retract as possible. you may recover enough that aesthetic surgery is unnecessary. good luck and take lots of pictures of the little one, they grow up fast!!
I had gastric bypass surgery and have excess skin that is causing me medical problems. I have Medic
panniculectomy
Nov 10, 2017
Most insurances have guidelines as to what is covered. Most Medicaid that I Know of look for massive weight loss (aout 100lbs), documentation of rashes, recurrence rate of rashes treated with medicines such as nystatin, photos of rashes and of a significant pannuculus, such as one going to thigh level. With good documentation you might get it covered. congrats on weight loss.
Seeking teaching hospital and is it safe?
tummy tuck
Nov 10, 2017
Not sure what you mean by help with a tummy tuck but if it is financial assistance the training programs do offer cosmetic surgery at a lower rate as noted by previous post. For those who have chronic rashes and large panniculus as well as good documentation there is occasionally an insurance that will cover a panniculectomy. This is a reconstructive type of tummy tuck with removal of the lower skin and without abdominal wall tightening and umbilical surgery. ...
Do I need a drain?
seroma recurrence
Nov 10, 2017
The size of the seroma seems to indicate to me that a drain is indicated. activity restriction, good compression garment (not just spanks) and a drain give a good chance at resolution. For recurrence after optimal drainage I have sclerosed with some success. if this fails then repeat surgery is needed to resect the rind of the seroma and replace drains. You can still avoid more aggressive intervention with drain, compression and activity restriction to allow the skin...
2 week post op tummy tuck and muscle repair?
seroma?
Nov 10, 2017
If there is a waterbed effect then there a likely seroma. Seromas are not uncommon. About 5% of abdominoplasty done with BMI25 or lower and about 30% in patients with massive weight loss of over 100 lbs. A follow up with your surgeon is needed to make the diagnosis in person and then establish the treatment, likely drainage and compression.
Is the constant presence of this hard bulge normal 4 weeks post tummy tuck?
persistent bulge
Nov 10, 2017
Thanks for the question. the treatment depends on the diagnosis. A persistent bulge can be fluid between the skin and abdominal wall, such as a seroma, or can just be edema or fluid within the tissues. Seromas will need a drainage and compression, edema just needs time and compression. other reasons for a bulge exist as well, such as laxity of the abdominal. Get your diagnosis and then get the appropriate treatment. Good luck.
27 years old done having babies do you think I’m a good candidate for a tummy tuck?
higher BMI tummy tucks
Nov 10, 2017
Thanks for your question. I think you would have safer surgery if yo were to lose some weight. This will allow for a decrease in complications of delayed healing, seroma, infection, and of course more skin can be removed if done at a better weight. That being said, you are a candidate if weight loss is basically not likely event. Surgeons will often mitigate complication rates by less undermining of the skin or tightening of the abdomen. Good luck!!
Belly button revision after tummy tuck - thin woman, is there anything I can do?
umbilical revision
Nov 10, 2017
A photo consultation does depend on the quality of the photos. From what I can see there seems to be some skin redundancy. Being thin will make dunking the umbilicus impossible but the skin redundancy (if it exists) can be tightnened, perhaps making it smaller as well. good luck.
I am going on 4 weeks post op from tummy tuck and lipo, my belly button appears not be healing, wha
umbilical ischemia post abdominoplasty
Nov 10, 2017
Sorry to hear of the difficulty. A decreased blood supply to the umbilicus after abdominoplasty is not uncommon, especially if a hernia is repaired at the same time. Dry dressings alone and monitoring the healing is always a good first plan. The umbilical blood supply improves slightly with time and a decrease in tension on the area. Waiting can make the office revision procedure easier as the swelling decreases. Careful however that the incision does not...
