Do I have symmastia or is it tenting?
Does not look like symmastia
Aug 19, 2023
Hi Krissy,From your photo, it does not look like you have symmastia. Rather, it looks like you have large implants that are taking up most of the area over your sternum, pulling up the soft tissue and obscuring the natural space between your breasts. I don’t see a true communication between the breast pockets. The breasts should soften and relax over the next few months, and should look more natural at that point.Hope that helps,Dr. Weintraub
Anchored to my ribs?
Nothing to worry about
Oct 16, 2016
Hi Wishing Girl,

You look good and this is a normal part of the surgical procedure that you had. We very often tack the inframammary fold down to a strong structure such as the lining of the ribs to secure the fold over time. Some people have a very lax/loose fold, and tacking it down helps prevent the implant from bottoming out in the future. It might be a little tender for the first couple of weeks. But it’s an “insurance stitch,” as we like to call it. Best of luck,

Dr. Weintraub

Are my breast implants placed too high?
You have a high breast “footprint”
Sep 28, 2016
Hi, and thank you for your question. From your photo, it looks as though your native breast outline, or footprint as we call it, is naturally high on your chest. Your implant is situated and centered properly behind your breast, but because your breast is high on your chest, your implant is high on your chest. If you wish for less upper pole fullness, you would need to replace the current implant with a smaller implant. But the implant position right now looks appropriate. It…
What is the average time in surgery for a combined abdominoplasty with muscle tightening and BBL
4 hours is about riggt
Sep 24, 2016
Hi, thank you for your question. 4 hours or so is about right. It depends on your size, how much liposuction will be done, how much grafting is planned, and whether your surgeon will be turning you completely or just tilting you onto your side for the fat transfer. All those factors will affect the time.

Best of luck,

Dr. Weintraub

2 months post Breast Augmentation, implants did not settle. Wise to release the muscle a little
I suggest waiting
Sep 15, 2016
Hi, and thank you for your question. 2 months is still early in the post-operative healing process, and 500cc are large implants. Your implants still have a lot of upper pole fullness, but they look like they are positioned well. Revision surgery always comes with risk, so it’s important that the benefit outweighs the risk. At this point, I’d continue being patient and wait a few more months to let your tissue relax. 6-9 months is the earliest I would consider a revision.Best…
I have horrible asymmetrical breasts that I’m embarrassed about. What can I do?
Improving asymmetry is pissinke
Sep 10, 2016
Hi, and thanks so much for your inquiry. Breast asymmetry can be really distressing because it’s hard to camouflage the difference, even in clothing. I had a patient that told me she used to wear a sock in her bra on the smaller side, until one day it fell out at a meeting. She had corrective surgery soon after that. Your situation can be greatly improved. Depending on your goals, I’d recommend a breast reduction on the right and a breast lift on the left. You’ll have symmetric scars…
What can I do to have my belly button go back to normal after Lipo?
You have a few options
Sep 9, 2016
Hi and thank you so much for your inquiry. I see your area of concern. If you are just concerned about the way your belly button looks, you can try taping a marble in it before putting your garment on. This might help open it up a little but as the tissue around it heals. But the problem is that you have redundant skin throughout your abdomen, which is affecting the appearance of your belly button. The only way to truly improve this is with an abdominoplasty. It would leave a scar…
Just had my first breast augmentation consult and I’m curious to hear what other professionals t
I don’t recommend the donut lift
Sep 9, 2016
Hi and thanks so much for your photos and inquiry. There are likely going to be as many different opinions as there are responses to your question because your situation falls into a “grey zone.” Technically speaking, you need a lift in order to center the nipple/areola up onto the breast mound and tighten the lower pole of the breast. A small-medium implant in addition would give you a really nice result with the upper-pole fullness you’re looking for. But, if you’re…
Is my crease lowered enough to accommodate the implants?
Your creases will be in the right olace
Sep 8, 2016
Hi Leela001,Thanks for reaching out with your question. The inframammary fold is a critically important structure that once violated, is very hard to recreate. Unless a fold is VERY short, as in a constricted/tuberous breast, it’s generally a dangerous practice to lower a fold to accomodate a big implant. Instead, it’s much safer to choose an implant of the same diameter as the breast “footprint” so that the implant sits centered behind the nipple/areola. In…
What will need to be done to my breasts?
The appearance can be improved
Sep 7, 2016
Hi Brandy.Snaps,Thank you for reaching out, and I’m so sorry you’re feeling self-conscious about how your breasts look. You are right, you have tuberous breasts, and they won’t change on their own. If you decide that they bother you enough to warrant surgery, the correction involves a number of steps. First, an incision is made around the areola, reducing the “herniation” of breast tissue coming through the areola. This reduces the puffy appearance of the central breast. The…
Unsatisfactory tummy tuck – what kind of revision will help?
You don’t need liposuction
Sep 6, 2016
Hi,Thanks so much for your inquiry. And congratulations on your weight loss, that is a huge accomplishment. One of the challenges of tummy tucks is that the excess skin can be in two different vectors. Before surgery, you had extra skin in the up-down direction, but also in the in-out direction. The tummy tuck will address the skin excess in the up-down direction, but not the excess in the other direction. This is part of the reason why you still have laxity. The only way to truly address it…
Would breast implants fix my nipple asymmetry?
Implants won’t change your areolar asymmetry
Sep 6, 2016
Hi 55arah,Thanks so much for your inquiry. The areola is pigmented, contractile skin and contains some glands that lubricate the area during breastfeeding. Breast implants stretch the breast skin to some extent, but you probably won’t get size symmetry by having breast implants. You could reduce the larger areola with a small skin excision, but you’ll trade the symmetry for a scar. If the size asymmetry bothers you a lot, it might be worth it. But if you otherwise like your breasts, I…
Day 19 after a tummy tuck. Is this Necrosis? What can I do?
It is necrosis but you will be ok
Sep 6, 2016
Hi,Yes, the black area looks like non-viable (necrotic) tissue. This area is the farthest from the blood supply and tends to be tight, leading to impaired blood flow and necrosis. For as scary as it can be to have a wound like this, you’ll be amazed how well it will ultimately heal. For now, follow your surgeon’s wound care instructions, which will include keeping it clean, and perhaps a debridement dressing like wet-to-dry dressings. If you surgeon takes this route…
Plus size with what I thought was suppose to be a tummy tuck?
It looks like you had a tummy tuck
Sep 6, 2016
Hi,Thank you so much for your inquiry. I’m sorry you’re feeling let down. Surgery is a huge undertaking, and can be a roller coaster of emotions. It’s hard to tell from your photos, but if you have an incision around your belly button, you probably had a tummy tuck rather than a panniculectomy. When a panniculectomy is performed, the surgeon excises just the apron of tissue that hangs over the lower abdomen. The belly button is not addressed, the tissue superior to the…

This is fixable
Sep 6, 2016
Hi Chquinta,Thanks for your inquiry. I’m so sorry you’re having this complication. Wounds can be very distressing for patients. The good news is that it looks like you have fairly superficial wounds. The other good news is that there is almost always a plan B after surgery, and your situation can be greatly improved. However, in my opinion, the peri-areolar lift is only useful in specific scenarios, and I think you would do MUCH better converting to a vertical breast lift. A…
