You asked several questions; first of all, you can do the procedure under local anesthesia or if you prefer, you can do it under general anesthesia or conscious sedation. As far as how many inches are removed, it will depend on each individual’s body. First of all, I’d ask a quick question of you: Are you a smoker? Nicotine can significantly impact healing and I’ve seen patients who are smokers have nodularity and hardness for a very long time after liposuction. There won’t be a substantial amount of fat transferred to successfully produce the results you are seeking. Therefore, in my opinion, you are safe to travel within one or two days of your procedure. I recommend at least leaving yourself enough time to see you surgeon before you fly out the next day.
