5 weeks post op, left breast not dropping?
Perfect symmetry
Aug 29, 2017
We’re you perfectly symmetric before surgery? Based on your pre-op photos – no. Your left breast sits below your right breast. Looking at your post op photo – that asymmetry is magnified. You’re also very early in the post operative course and the scar tissue around the implants is going to soften with time (with or without performing massage) and the skin is going to stretch and soften more, resulting in the implants dropping and ‘settling’. Give you body some more time. It’s too early…

Perfect symmetry
Aug 29, 2017
We’re you perfectly symmetric before your breast augmentation? Maybe, but more likely, you were a little asymmetric before and now that you’ve been augmented with 560cc implants, this asymmetry is more noticeable. I’m sure your plastic surgeon discussed this with you pre-operatively. Your implants will soften and settle over the first 3 to 6 to 12 months. I wouldn’t even talk about a revision at this point in time. You need to give your body more time to heal.
Breast lift or implants? Should implants alone be sufficient?
To lift or not to lift
Aug 29, 2017
If your nipples are sitting at or below the crease beneath your breasts I would tell you – you need a lift. If you need a lift, you need a lift. Going with a big implant to ‘fill’ out the skin envelope created after prior pregnancies and or weight loss, will causes the skin to stretch more, and the nipple to descend more after breast augmentation (on average about 2cm or an inch). You’ll need a lift sooner rather than later. Yes a lift involves a vertical scar – most of the time (unless you…
Moderate Profile? Moderate Plus? High Profile? Surgery in a week!
Best implant
Aug 29, 2017
Which type of implant will be best depends on your breast measurements and your goals. Ultra high profile implants tend to be very narrow and very round. They provide the most projection, but can look less natural compared to other implant styles. The implant should be centered behind your nipple. Based on your photos, you appear to have moderately wide breasts and a moderate profile or possible a high profile implant may be best for you based on your goals. I’m very cautious about…
BA: are my incisions sitting too low?
Are my incisions too low?
Aug 29, 2017
Thanks for your question. You’re early in the post operative course. Your implants are going to settle as the skin stretches and the implant capsule softens. I think you’ll find that the scars will not be sitting as low as they currently appear. Hope this helps.
Is this a normal fat roll? I have a lot of fat underneath my breasts.
Is this normal?
Aug 4, 2017
Yes, that is a normal role of skin with some excess fat. Congratulations on losing the weight. But to get rid of the excess skin generally require some type of body contouring procedure like a tummy tuck.
My last surgery was June 21: hips/saddlebags. Is this a seroma? Fluid on hips is not reso
Seroma
Aug 4, 2017
You may indeed have a seroma, fancy word for persistent flood collection. I would have to examine you, but the fact that you are still retaining some weight this far out after an 8 L liposuction is concerning. I would definitely follow up with your surgeon.
I have indentations from liposuction. I’m about 7-8 months post op. Any advice please? (p
Irregularities
Aug 4, 2017
The irregularities you point out in your picture are consistent with a sharp transition zone. I would have to examine you, but generally speaking this is the result of the technique used rather them from healing on your behalf. Compression garments postoperatively certainly help. You may require a revision if you’re eight months out at this point.
Is it okay to do push-ups and pull ups post-augmentation?
Working out post breast augmentation
Jul 12, 2017
Thanks for your question. When the implants have been placed under the muscle, anything that uses that muscle can potentially displace the implants, usually out towards the side. I’d follow the advice of your plastic surgeon in terms of when it’s appropriate to return to unrestricted physical activity. In terms of doing push ups and pull ups and potentially compromising your results I would add that as long as the implants are being supported while you do these activities, you don’t have…
3 weeks post op, breast augmentation. Will it need to be drained?
Does this need to be drained
Jul 6, 2017
Thanks for your question. You do appear to have either a seroma (fluid collection), or possible a hematoma (collection of blood) on the left side. Sometimes these will slowly resolve on their own, however I would contact your plastic surgeon immediately to determine the best course of action. Draining a large fluid collection generally results in a better long-term result. Worst case scenario is the fluid collection becoming infected and you have to remove the implant on that side. Hope…
Why do I have a dent on lower right breast? (Phtoo)
Dent
Jul 6, 2017
Thanks for your question. It appears that you may be experiencing some early scaring with adherence of the skin to the deeper tissue. You’re still early in the post operative course. The ‘dent’ may soften with time. I would recommend waiting at least 6 months before considering any type of revision surgery. Hope this helps!
Breast augmentation – very worried about incision
Wound dehiscence
Jul 6, 2017
Thank you for your question. It does appear that you have developed suture granulomas which have opened. Fortunately it does not appear that the implant is exposed. I would place ointment over the openings and cover them with bandaids/paper tape. The other incision has opened more extensively and would be best treated with wet-to-dry saline dressings. I would recommend establishing a relationship with a local plastic surgeon or wound care specialist who can help supervise…
How will scar tissue from previous lipo affect second round of lipo?
Secondary Liposuction
Jun 27, 2017
Thank you for your question. Generally any type of revision procedure is more difficult than the primary procedure. Liposuction create scar tissue regardless of postoperative complications like a seroma. Generally, the skin does not redrape as well after a secondary procedure. It’s often necessary to remove the excess skin in order to get the maximum amount of tightening affect. Without examining you it’s difficult to say what your particular situation would require. Hope…
How do I tell my doctor I am not happy with my results?
How to talk about a revision
Jun 27, 2017
Thank you for your question. I’m sorry to hear you’re not completely satisfied with your results. This is always a difficult situation. I agree with you that the excess skin on your back is best removed with a bra line back lift. This is the only way to really get rid of the loose skin after weight loss. I would encourage you to seek at least a couple of new opinions before proceeding with additional surgery, it’s often good to hear the same thing more than once…
1 month post-op: slight incision opening with minimal drainage.
Opening
May 17, 2017
Your have a small dehiscence (separation of the skin), which could be the result of a stitch pushing up through the skin before it has had a chance to completely dissolve. It doesn’t appear to be infected. I would place a small amount of ointment (bacitracin or neosporin) over the incision and keep it covered. If you feel like it’s getting worse, contact your plastic surgery to be evaluated in person. Best of luck!
