How likely is it an infection if a scab won’t heal? 5 weeks post Breast Implant Revision.
Middle photo is concerning
Oct 18, 2017
Looking at the area on the middle photo, I'm not sure if that is a scab or actually implant exposure again. I would definitely contact your plastic surgeon and be seen as soon as possible. This is a very difficult problem and it appears you have done the right things including a long course of antibiotics and obviously the reclosure. Unfortunately I would not be surprised if all of your efforts are still destined for failure as larger implants in thin tissue with exposure...
I had a breast augmentation and lift done on March 6, one breast super itchy and has a red patch. (
Looks ok
Mar 12, 2017
I'm not overly concerned at this point. If it's not painful and the redness is not growing it's most likely part of the normal healing process. You might want to try a bit of benadryl cream or cortisone cream at the site of the itchyness as well.
If you have fevers or pain, I would contact your surgeon.
Remaining excess skin and hollow eyes 10 days post upper/lower bleph?
It's still early...
Mar 12, 2017
At 10 days you are healing fine, but far from your final result. This will need roughly 3 months to get to a relatively final and stable outcome. At that point you can evaluate where you are.
I would not worry about the upper lids at this time. There is still swelling and the scarring is very early. Once it heals you will likely be pleased with the improvement.
Follow your surgeons recommendations and give it some time.
Breast lift and augmentation, why am I sagging after just 4 months?
Need more skin removal
Mar 12, 2017
The overall size looks fine, however they are indeed sagging.
At roughly 6 months I would consider an additional and more powerful breast lift procedure which will remove more skin but add the Anchor scar to your breast. Sometimes trying to skimp on scars leads to skin laxity and sagging soon after the procedure. I have found myself using the Anchor skin resection pattern more and more frequently to prevent this type of thing from happening.
Black scab after breast reduction, has something gone wrong?
Necrosis on breast
Mar 12, 2017
Cosmeeko, indeed the black area you see is a bit of skin that has not survived. The terms necrotic, necrosis, dead are all appropriate, but don't be worried.
There are no signs of infection. That black area is indeed dead and will eventually come off. Likely the area will heal in on its own with skin growing from the healthy edges.
This will take about 3-4 weeks. Your current care is fine. If you get significant redness around it, or it's growing significantly...
Need advice about breast augmentation for international student
International Surgery
Mar 11, 2017
I would recommend someone to help you for the first few days. If you have no one there to help you, ask your surgeon if he has anyone he can recommend for you.
6 months is plenty of time to heal and recover and get through any potential initial problems.
As far as productivity, plan a few days off and you'll be fine. Most women are back to work in less than a week.
Once back in the states if there are any problems you will be able to find a Plastic Surgeon to take care of you,...
I quit smoking five weeks prior to surgery and things are healing as expected per my doctor. Can I
Smoking...never a good idea.
Mar 11, 2017
No physician will recommend you go back to smoking. However, in your case I would recommend about 3 months before you consider it. The Strattice complicates your case a bit and needs more time to heal in and incorporate before you are fully healed.
Does it look like I have ruptured my implants? My breast pulls and burns feels as someone is pullin
Very difficult problem
Mar 11, 2017
Penny, this is a difficult problem for sure. Obviously you are quite thin, and so is the skin on your breasts. This has allowed significant visibility of the implants as well as significant bottoming out of the implants.
The pain is most likely from the implants which have stretched the skin and have pulled on the nerves. While rupture is unlikely at 1 year, it is possible and the only way to know for sure or with high likelihood is with an MRI which your...
Worried about size, pain and stretch marks!
Might be a bit large...Might want to consider silicone
Mar 11, 2017
You are a great candidate for breast augmentation. However as thin as you are there are 2 things I would consider.
First, I would consider silicone implants as being very thin the "hands on" feel is superior for silicone and your chance of seeing rippling in the implants, especially along the underside and outside is quite high with saline. While it's not prevented with silicone it is less likely.
Second, relatively large implants in small breasts do have a more "fake" look as...
Fixing a natural uniboob?
Normal Anatomy
Mar 8, 2017
Your breasts have a normal size and shape, and the issue you describe of tissue between the breast seeming to create a "uniboob" is very common.
An in person examination can give you more information as to whether or not it is amenable to any interventions.
In the past I have performed liposuction to that area for a few individuals with anywhere from a little to a moderate bit of improvement.
If it bothers you seek a board certified surgeon for an evaluation.
Would there be any disadvantage to getting implants after a lift if I'm unhappy with just the lift?
Timing
May 18, 2016
If you are planning on 2 procedures and 2 recoveries then by all means have the lift first to see if you will be satisfied or not. While breast implants are great, they are not without future problems such as eventual rupture, possible capsular contracture or malposition.  I'd go for the lift and live with them for a bit.  If they still aren't 'perky' or 'full' enough for you then implants will be a great add on to your February surgery.
Indentation in chest, revision surgery?
Indentations after Gynecomastia
May 18, 2016
Glad your surgery went well and everything is healing nicely.I can see the indentations you are pointing out.  At 4 weeks there is still some swelling present and the scars may be a bit tethered internally as well. It's definitely too soon to consider a revision.  I would give it more time.  More moisturizing and massage and revisit the area at roughly 3 months. If indeed those indentations remain liposuction around the edges may be required.  In some cases the problem is actually over res...
Is it normal for my scar to be hard and lumpy?
Lumpy Scar at 4 weeks
May 18, 2016
While it's not the norm, many people will still have a lumpy and firm scar at only 4 weeks after their tummy tuck.In many cases it's simply part of the healing process and can be related to the body's reaction to the absorbable sutures that are utilized in surgery.  I would recommend scar management with either silicone sheeting or a moisturizer with mechanical massage to the area.  It can take up to 3 months in my past experience to improve.  If it seems to be worsening it can be the be...
Can the incision for a tummy tuck be lower than the pubic hair line?
Keep the scar low.
May 18, 2016
Current trends are for very low rise undergarments/jeans/shorts.  Generally the scar is kept quite low on my patients.  The old teaching was to leave 7 cm (3 inches, about the length of your index finger) from the top of the labia to the top of the pubic hair.  We are now using about 5 cm (2 inches) for nearly all women.  This can be important from both the hair growth standpoint, but also the color of the skin which is often a bit darker.Make sure to bring up those concerns when you see you...
Umblicoplasty; am I a candidate for belly button revision after an Abdominoplasty in 2014?
Umbilical Revision
May 18, 2016
I agree a purse string suture is the best attempt to make your belly button smaller.  However, given the quality of your scar everywhere I wouldn't expect it would be in the end dramatically better.  I imagine the umbilicus will be smaller but the scar around it may spread and come out only a slight bit better.
