8 weeks post-op BA will my right breast drop?
Breast implant position after augmentation
Nov 22, 2018
Thank you for your question. I find that in my patients who undergo submuscular augmentation the dominant hand side drops later than the non-dominant side. While this normally happens within 2 months, it may take as long as 4 months. If you are right-handed, your right pectoralis muscle is likely to be thicker making it harder for that implant to drop. It is really hard to be patient at this stage, but I would recommend continuing to see your surgeon on a regular basis...
Extreme puckering of incision. Will this flatten?
Puckering of abdominoplasty incision
Nov 21, 2018
Congratulations on your recent surgery. You are still very early in your recovery. A small amount of puckering of the incision is common and will flatten out after about 3 months. Any residual skin excess at the incision ends that does not resolve can usually be treated with an easy in office procedure.
In terms of the liposuction done in the flanks, swelling in this area is very normal. This swelling takes some time to resolve and...
Is this skin that’s pulling going to go away?
Skin pulling
Mar 12, 2018
Hello,
While it is difficult to tell from the photos alone, this looks like Mondor's cord, a superficial thrombophlebitis. All that means is that a vein in the area become irritated after surgery. This can be resolved with ibuprofen (if your doctor allows it yet) and time. The area is usually tender to touch to start with and then becomes nontender and gradually resolves. It may take 6 weeks or longer. It is fairly common after breast...
Tips for getting drain sites to be more comfortable?
help with drain site pain
Feb 11, 2018
Hello,
Congratulations on getting through the toughest part of recovery already. It is likely your drains may be ready to come out soon anyway. My patients do commonly complain that the drain exit sites hurt worse than anything else. While you should definitely ask your surgeon how he or she would handle this, here are some things I often do for my patients:
1-Place an ABD pad under the drain at the exit site in such a way that you are taking slack off the suture...
TT: Drains really the worst pat? I’m on day 4 post-op.
Tunny tuck poster questions
Jan 24, 2018
Thank you for your question. Although every patient is different, I find most of my patients feel that the drains really are the worst part of an abdominoplasty recovery. That said, the first 3 days are the toughest in terms of pain. Complete recovery takes several months, but pain rapidly decreases after day #3 and patient start to feel much better. It sounds like you have made it past that part. Best of luck in your recovery!
I have been diagnosed with a hematoma almost 2 week post op and instructed to just rest and medicate.
Postop Hematoma
Jan 22, 2018
Sometimes small hematomas may resolve with rest and time. It sounds like your doctor is monitoring you closely to make sure this is getting better. As long as this is getting better it is reasonable to wait and watch. Keep in mind resolution is gradual. Hang in there!
Can you have a full tuck if you already had a mini?
Tummy Tuck Options
Jan 5, 2018
Thank you for your question. While it is possible to have a full tummy tuck after a mini, judging solely from your picture, it doesn’t appear as if you need a second tuck. If you are concerned about excess skin or fat on your sides, there are several body sculpting procedures available that will give you better results. I recommend talking to a board-certified plastic surgeon - they can examine you and offer options for achieving the results you are looking for. Good luck!

Are there any doctors that will do a tummy tuck and BBL at the same time?
Tummy tuck and BBL at the same time
Jan 5, 2018
Thank you for your question. The short answer is yes, there are surgeons that will combine the procedures. However, keep in mind that with a BBL, you cannot lay on your back for at least three weeks, and with a tummy tuck, you can’t lay on your stomach for at least three weeks. There are other factors as well, so my best advice is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. They can examine you and let you know if your goal for a combined surgery is realistic and s...

Advice for Recovery and Tips
Jan 5, 2018
While the internet can be a great place to find information about pretty much everything, it can also be a place of misinformation. Your plastic surgeon should be your number one resource for any questions or concerns you have about your procedure and the recovery process. You will need to follow their post-operative instructions carefully, and any issues you might encounter are best handled by them. They are familiar with your body, your medical history, and your specific surgery, so it is...
Can a Tummy Tuck be done with existing extensive scars? And if so, can I elect to NOT have a belly but
Tummy Tuck Candidate
Jan 5, 2018
Thank you for your question and congratulations on your weight loss! To answer your question, it is possible to do what you are asking, although there are caveats. A panniculectomy may be your best option for now, because your BMI is above 30 - most surgeons require a BMI of under 30 before performing any procedures. My advice is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in surgery after massive weight loss. They can examine you and recommend the best...
Can I travel for Mexico vacation 5 weeks after umbilical hernia, diastasis, tummy tuck and ba? (photos
Travel Post OP
Jan 5, 2018
Thank you for your question. Recommendations for recovery time vary from surgeon to surgeon, so I would advise you to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in these procedures and let them know about your goals. While you may be able to travel at five weeks post-surgery, the results of your surgery will not be completely visible - you will still have noticeable swelling, and depending on how quickly you heal, you may still have some discomfort. Because of the...
I just gave birth to my sixth child Oct 11, 2017. How long must I wait before getting a mommy makeover
Wait time between pregnancy and surgery
Jan 5, 2018
Thank you for your question. Before undergoing a mommy makeover, you want to be sure that you are within about 10 pounds of your goal weight. This means waiting at least six months after giving birth - not only to lose your pregnancy weight, but to give your body time to heal. Additionally, if you are breastfeeding, most surgeons want you to wait at least three months after you’ve stopped breastfeeding before undergoing surgery. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified p...
Fat transfer to the breast as part of my mommy makeover. Is it safe?
Fat Transfer and Mommy Makeovers
Jan 5, 2018
Thank you for your question. Like any plastic surgery procedure, breast enhancement using fat transfer is safe when performed by the right surgeon. I recommend that you schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in breast augmentation and fat transfer procedures. They can examine you and offer the best options for achieving the results you desire, as well as addressing any questions and concerns you might have. Good luck!

History of heart murmur, should I have mommy makeover? I'm 36.
Medical Concerns Before Surgery
Jan 5, 2018
Thank you for your question. Besides providing you with the results you desire, your surgeon also wants to make sure that you are safe and comfortable going into your surgery. If you have concerns, it is important that you talk to your cardiologist and your surgeon to ensure that you are completely cleared for surgery, as well as to put your own mind at ease. Good luck!

How much/how long will stay be for a mommy makeover? I want an arm lift and possibly a minor butt lift
Next Steps for Mommy Makeover
Jan 5, 2018
Thank you for your question. Without examining you in person, it is impossible to advise you as to what procedures may offer the best results for you, as well as cost. Additionally, because you are looking at quite a few surgeries, it may be wise to space them out a bit. I recommend that you schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. They can perform a full examination and work out a treatment plan designed to give you the results you are looking for. Good...
