Very good question. The technology behind the treatment therapy of Sculpsure is based on laser wavelengths heating and disrupting the fat cells beneath the dermis, without damaging your external skin. Gels may need to be applied for other types of treatments, such as ultrasound based technologies, but not with Sculpsure. A Lux Lotion may be sprayed on the applicators, which appears as a fine mist, but is not a gel-like substance. Hope this was helpful.
