It does not matter how old you are, if the skin is starting to fold due to aging it can be removed and the apparent symmetry regained. The reason for the asymmetry is because you have a very shallow bony orbit, so even the smallest amount of skin will be pushed outward and show up as a fold. As stated by the other MD's, this addition to the lower eyelid blepharoplasty is typically done for patient's who have significant looseness of the lower eyelid due to aging. It is too early to tell what the gap will be post op. If you had a large gap before surgery it may still be large after surgery unless you identified this concern pre operativly. Looks good from this view, but without a full exam it is impossible to tell. Best to go see the doctor who did the surgery. I am sure the doctor would welcome the opportunity to check and reassure you even if your appointment is not scheduled this soon. When in doubt always ask your surgeon 24 hours a day- it is better to confirm it is ok then to delay diagnosis or miss a problem!
