Answer Snippet
Does the left side looks normal for healing?
labiaplasty
Jan 6, 2019
It's important to accept that photos don't always give the full story, but judging by the photos, you're probably ahead of expected healing. Most commonly there's considerable swelling, and often small areas of the suture line have a little yellow on the edges during healing. If it doesn't continue to improve, contact your surgeon for evaluation.
Do I have a spitting stich? I have an appt in a few days with my surgeon. Should I get seen sooner?
? Spitting stich
Jan 4, 2019
Spitting stitches are very common, especially when there are multiple or long incisions. The absorbable sutures can take many months for your body to absorb, and occasionally they come so close to the surface that they you can feel a thread poking out, or they can cause a small pimple-like infection. They are usually ha harmless and resolve, however, on rare occasions they can cause a small infection that is best treated early. I recommend that you contact your physician to...
Do I need upper abdomen lipo or just a tummy tuck?
Tummy tuck or liposuction
Mar 11, 2017
There are certain qualities that can't be seen in your photos, however, it seems that a full abdominoplasty in addition to some liposuction will offer you the best result. The tummy tuck will tighten the skin and remove the majority of looseness and stretch marks that are below the belly button. The liposuction will thin any remaining fat. One or two consultations with a plastic surgeon should give you the knowledge and confidence to make an educated decision.
How Many Botox Units for 11's or Frown Lines?
How much Botox do you need
Mar 8, 2017
First and foremost Botox might take at least a few days to a week before you see a significant effect. The amount of Botox required for any given area (11's for example) varies quite a bit from one patient to another. 20 to 25 units is very much within the norm. But the potential for improvement also depends on how deep the lines are and how long they've been there. Newer creases respond better than old established creases. In most cases, Botox (or Dysport) will give...
Lower face, chin and neck lift? Non-surgical options?
Options for lower face and neck
Mar 7, 2017
Surgery remains the gold standard for the most correction of facial and neck laxity. However, if you are willing to settle for less aggressive and less predictable results, there are non-surgical options.
Some practitioners use Botox or Dysport to reduce the "banding". Radiofrequency treatments can offer variable tightening. Microneedling can sometimes improve skin texture.
You'll probably find that every practice has a different modality on which they place emphasis, but...
Would I be a good candidate for (just) abdominal liposuction, or would a tummy tuck be required to
Liposuction or Tummy Tuck
Mar 3, 2017
The most important difference between liposuction and tummy tuck depends on the elasticity of your skin. In other words, if you remove lots of fat, but not skin, will your skin tighten on its own or will it remain loose or even a little looser? I have found that it also depends a lot on what result will satisfy a particular patient. Everyone has a different goal or expectation that should be fully discussed with your surgeon. Liposuction by itself will generally offer...
How Much Do Breast Implants Cost?
Cost of Breast Implant Surgery
Mar 3, 2017
The cost of Breast Implant Surgery varies dramatically both geographically and within the same area. Most of us would first recommend that you start by searching for Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in your area. It's best to stay within a few hours of your home so you will always be within easy reach of your surgeon at any time.
When checking for the price of surgery, it's important to know what's included. Some practices segregate the overall cost into surgeon fee, facility fee, and...
Different saline implant sizes look very noticeably different. Will they even out? Is this normal?
Breast look asymmetric after surgery
Mar 3, 2017
Your question is very reasonable. My best advice initially is to wait and see how your breasts look when they have fully settled which can take weeks or months.
But, to fully answer your question, the following may be helpful. It's always important to be aware of the differences before surgery. Even though the surgery typically doesn't make the difference worse, most patients study their breasts far more after surgery than before - the more you look, the more you become aware of...
Breast Massage 1 week after augmentation, received 350cc silicon under the muscle, how often and wh
massage after breast augmentation
Mar 2, 2017
Most plastic surgeons instruct their patients to massage the implants for a variable amount of time. The goal is to keep the scar tissue from contracting or tightening around the implant making them look less natural. There is no standard amount of time or frequency of massage. I personally recommend 5 times a day for 5 months, but it's really just to make it easy to remember. As your surgeon or a staff member how often and for how long.
Is this normal after implants?
crease one year after breast augmentation
Feb 21, 2017
There are a few possible answers to your question. One possibility is that the crease represents the internal border between your natural breast and the implant. Another possibility is that the crease represents the edge of the scar tissue that typically surrounds a breast implant. Or it may simply be the edge of the implant or a mild ripple of the implant. None of these are alarming, but if you are concerned, it would be wise to show your plastic surgeon.
18 days post op, one boob lower. Any suggestions?
Breast Implant Position
Aug 26, 2016
Thank you for your question! There are multiple factors behind the position of an implant post operatively. It depends upon the type of implant used and the pocket the implant was placed it. It is completely normal for implants to drop (especially smooth implants) post operatively. It is also seen where implants drop unevenly. In the times when one implant is higher I often use a bandeau or chest strap with a towel placed over the higher implant to help it even out. It is important to know,...
How do I know the difference between swelling and fat?
Swelling after tummy tuck
Aug 24, 2016
There are several possibilities that might explain your swelling. It's entirely normal to have swelling in the front lower part of your abdomen for months following surgery. Often this swelling is worse at night than in the morning and eventually disappears. A different type of swelling is called seroma which is a fluid collection that might need to be relieved. See your plastic surgeon who will know what it is and what to do.
Would augmentation alone be able to help create a fuller bust without a lift?
Implants or Lift?
Aug 21, 2016
It's not easy to tell from a photograph, but a general rule is: if you're hoping to not need a lift, your nipple should be situated above the level of where your breast folds underneath. Otherwise you are at risk for "double bubble". From the side view, it looks very close. If your plastic surgeon considers it reasonable, there's a good change the implant will give greater fullness and even a little elevation of the areola. I would encourage an in...
Extremely asymmetric and tuberous breast.
Asymmetry with one tuberous breast
Aug 19, 2016
Your condition can be improved but how much depends on the degree of size asymmetry as well as how tuberous the breast is. When only a little tuberous, an implant alone can often provide significant correction, however, when it is significant, more aggressive surgery may be required. Another issue is the size asymmetry. Putting in different size implants can reduce the overall size asymmetry but not necessarily the overall symmetry of appearance. This is not...
My left breast is larger than the other, what would your diagnosis and potential treatment be? Woul
breast enlargement with weight gain
Aug 11, 2014
Odds are that reversing what seems to have caused the problem will help your breasts return to their original appearance. However, there are other factors including certain medications, age and skin elasticity that can influence the ultimate appearance. Weight loss and exercise are good first steps in improving your overall appearance.
