Statement: Dr. Ryan B. Tsujimura is a double board-certified plastic surgeon practicing in Scottsdale, Arizona. With over 25 years in practice, Dr. Tsujimura has earned a reputation for his expertise in plastic surgery for the breasts and body, his artistry with facial rejuvenation, and his exceptionally natural-looking revision plastic surgery results. His patients also appreciate his warm personality, which helps them feel comfortable as soon as they walk in the door of his Phoenix-area practice, Scottsdale Plastic Surgeons.

He is known for his unique approach to performing a simultaneous breast lift and augmentation with implants, to create an incredibly natural result.

Revision plastic surgery is very sensitive work. It requires a caring bedside manner, meticulous attention to detail, and unmatched technical skills. Dr. Tsujimura is acclaimed for all three. He frequently takes on challenging corrective and reconstructive plastic surgery cases that other surgeons have deemed too complex.

“I see people from all over the country,” he explains. “The important factor in revision surgery is making sure all the factors contributing to the issue are accounted for and revised.”

Dr. Tsujimura attended the University of Washington in Seattle for his bachelor’s degree in biology (with honors) and stayed on to earn his medical degree, graduating in the top 10% of his class. He finished an internship at Oregon Health Science University in Portland before completing his residency at the Mayo Clinic and Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, in general surgery. He then studied plastic surgery at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.

Dr. Tsujimura holds two board certifications: one from the American Board of Surgery, and the other from the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Throughout his career, Dr. Tsujimura has been recognized as one of the best surgeons in the greater Phoenix area by patients and peers alike. He has been honored with many awards, including VITALS’s Patient’s Choice Award and Compassionate Doctor Award. He has also been named one of America’s Top Surgeons by the Consumers’ Research Council of America and a Top Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon by America’s Top Doctor.

To keep his aesthetic surgical skills sharp, Dr. Tsujimura frequently collaborates with plastic surgeons in the United States and abroad, to learn new techniques that can help empower his patients and deliver the results they deserve.

Dr. Tsujimura also stays active in the medical community by contributing to various industry publications and journals, including The Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, as well as giving academic presentations across the country. He is an active member of multiple professional societies, including the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Phoenix Plastic Surgery Society, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Different Looking Breast after Lift.
Jun 13, 2016
Your surgery was performed about 2 months ago.  This is early in the postoperative phase for a lift.  The deep sutures are just now dissolving.  Some implants take  longer to "drop" especially if its on the dominant side?  Moving the implant and possible use of an upper pole band may help.  If you are right handed, try using the left side more if lifting. The flatness on the left will relax with time.  Scars change and mature over the first year.  As I said, a lot of the sutures are just no...
Is it normal after a breast lift and implants for breasts to be bulging and lumpy?
Lumpy Breasts
Jun 13, 2016
You are less than a week from surgery.  The results will change significantly as the swelling resolves and the skin relaxes.  At this point, your muscles are still in spasm and may be pushing the implants "flat" and out.  The "lumpiness" is likely due to the lift and the incisions.  This will settle out with time  as the tissue relaxes.  The lift has to be "tight", otherwise you may need more skin removed, once the skin relaxes.    When your surgeon allows you to, begin to massage scars, th...
Will a 260-270cc round gel fit into the pocket from 370cc gel and look more natural?
Less Fake Looking Breasts
Jun 13, 2016
There are several factors to consider including volume as you mentioned. Going down in volume alone may not be the answer. If this in done by itself, the "pocket" will likely need to be adjusted (capsulorrhaphy). Otherwise, the smaller implant will move in the pocket and to the side. This will be very apparent when lying on your back. There are different Profiles of implants, each producing a different look. As far as upper pole fullness is concerned...
If I have more children in the future , will I need to get my breast augmentation redone?
Deflated Breasts
Jun 13, 2016
It appeared that the right side was smaller after the mastitis.  Though you didn't mention the implants placed, but I will assume they are different sizes to compensate for the difference.  As far as needing another augment, that will depend on several factors.  If you have more children and breast feed:  The important factor is 1) How big the breasts get 2)  More important is how long they stay that way.  If they stay engorged for 8-12 + months, then the real issue will be  skin laxity...
Do my incisions look okay or are they looking irritated due to the surgical bra?
Breast Incisions
Jun 13, 2016
The incisions and bruising appear normal, they are longer than expected for augmentation, however, more may have been done.  The important issue is to support the breasts and implants while its healing.  I usually recommend a sports bra.  If there is any irritation, padding the crease with gauze may help.  It will be important to take care of the incisions once they are healed (massage, sunblock) to allow them to heal light and flat.  Once healed, its "you" who can help achieve the best resu...

Changing out Implants
Feb 18, 2016
The most important thing is to communicate with your surgeon and have the same goal in mind.  When exchanging implants, there are several factors to address.  The reason why you changed out the 600cc implants?  Were they too wide, too much projection, or both?  In my experience, the majority of the time, it's because the implants are too wide (most of my patients like the projection).  If that's the case, going from a 600 Hp to 400cc moderate profile is a large change (approx. 2+cm...
Is this normal healing after implant pocket revision?
To succeed in breast revision, all factors must be looked at.
Feb 18, 2016
It's difficult to evaluate without pre-augment pictures.  The left breast appears larger than the right which if present prior to surgery, there may be a need for different size or "fill" ( saline) of implants.  If the breasts were the same size, shape, skin envelope, etc.,  preop, then implant position is the issue.  Even immediately postop the Right side appears slightly higher, the post op 5 picture the implant is higher and "rounder", this suggests a "tighter" capsule?  Not...
Issues after strattice. Any suggestions?
Implant malpositon and exchange
Feb 12, 2016
Without a picture, its difficult to see what exactly is happening.  Going from a 800cc to a 550cc implant (even though the projection may be close (depends on what profile the 800cc implant was) the width of the implant went down.  The skin has been "stretched out"  from larger implant, the Stratice may help support the implant, but the pocket and skin may still be too large, which essentially produces a "bottomed out" or inferiorly displaced implant.  this in turn causes the nipples to...

Bottomed Out Implants
Feb 9, 2016
Yes, the implants have "bottomed out". This can occur at anytime, and is more common if you work out, especially high impact exercise or arm/chest work outs. It's important to wear high impact/ high support bra when working out (usually not comfortable) and gives a lot of support. I usually recommend repair of the pocket (capsulorrhaphy) if this occurs. If it occurs again, there are options of placing different materials (Alloderm, Stratice, SERI) that act like a...
