The decision is based upon skin elasticity, how much redundant skin you have, stretch marks, and how much extra adipose (fat) is present on your abdomen. Make sure you have had proper post operative follow up care. There are multiple reasons why they could be firm. Most commonly this could be capsular contracture. A board certified plastic surgeon will be able to diagnosis this upon examination.

If a drain tube is pulled out by accident, do not try to put it back in. It now considered unsterile. Wash the site with antibacterial soap and put a dressing over it to stop any leakage. Call your surgeon first thing and let them know. Depending on how the long the drain has been in will determine if the surgeon will have to replace it with another.
