Hair Loss 2 Months After Surgery Normal?
Hair loss after facelift
Dec 30, 2011
Yes, it's possible to experience hairloss after a facelift but I would expect the areas of loss to be near the healing scars. One may expect that the hair would return but it may also represent permanent loss. Now, if the hair loss is outside of the area of the facelift, this could represent an unrelated medical problem as the cause for the hair loss.

3 Weeks After Macs Lift I Have Several Dimples Under my Skin What Could It Be?
3 weeks postop Macs facelift
Dec 30, 2011
Greetings. Your photos and comments are very interesting. I suspect that your concerns are probably most related to postoperative swellling. Now with that said, I think you should followup with your surgeon and make sure it is not caused by something else such as a resolving hematoma, suture contracture or otherwise.

My Face is Swollen After Deep Plane Facelift, When Will This And Bruising Subside? Worried About Returni
Facelift swelling and recovery
Dec 21, 2011
Facelift swelling and recovery time can be very significant concerns for any patient. What is of utmost importance, I believe, is during consultation provide a realistic description of what the recovery will be like. I like to do this by describing periods of recovery such as the immediate postoperative week when the patient is dealing with issues such as pain, wound care and sutures. The period of time after the sutures are removed and the following weeks are an anxious...
What Can I Do for a Facelift That was Made too Tight?
Tight facelift discomfort
Dec 21, 2011
Thanks for the opportunity to address your concern. Rarely does one hear that a facelift is too tight. However, in your case it seems that it is not the cosmetic result that is the concern but ongoing issues such as pain and discomfort. Since you are about one year out I would not expect any significant changes in your condition. Of interest are some of your symptoms including numbness. This may indicate a nerve injury and I agree with some of the other...
What is the Difference Between Neck Lift and Lower Face Lift?
Neck vs lower face lift. What's the difference?
Dec 14, 2011
Neck vs lower face lift. What's the difference? Nothing other than semantics. There are a lot of names flying around out there for facial rejuvenation procedures and you the patient have to be careful and do your homework to make sure you know exactly what you're buying and consenting. Make sure your surgeon explains, and shows you, what the procedure can accomplish, location of incisions, and potential pitfalls or complications.
Facelift Using Stem Cells?
Stem cells and facelifts
Dec 14, 2011
Greetings, I would be very cautious to any claims about the superiority of stem cells used for facelifting and rejuvenation. Although there may be some benefit, stem cell grafting will probably still not have the same impact that surgical face lifting can provide. The basic science behind stem cell grafting has not been worked out but I do hope hope for the future that it will become a regularily implemented medical treatment.

What is Your Opinion on Marionette Fold Excision?
Marionette Folds: options and scars
Dec 14, 2011
Greetings, Marionette folds can be difficult to treat and may require more than just a lift. I would recommend giving the fillers a try again and even moving on to fat grafting as a means to add more volume and longevity. In addition, I would utilize fractional laser techniques to help tighten the skin in this area. Finally, I would consider excision only as a last option for as you already appreciate, may lead to visual scarring.

Earlobe Repair Cost with Hole of 3mm
Earlobe repair, reduction, and piercing
Dec 11, 2011
Earlobe repair, reduction, and piercing are all similar in that they attempt to change the appearance of the lobule and piercing may necessitate the need for future treatment.

Repair - generally, I cut out the defect and adjacent borders so as to close and approximate normal tissue to normal tissue. This goes on to heal as a straight line with little fuss.

Reduction - similar to repair but instead of closing a hole or gap, I remove tissue at the junction of the ear...

How Does a Vaser Liposuction Procedure Help Reduce Excessive Sweating?
Botox vs laser ablation for axillary hyperhydrosis
Dec 11, 2011
I agree with Dr. Ishoo. It can be helpful and it's mechanism of effect is both heating and mechanical disruption of the glands. However, since the advent of therapeutic Botox for the treatment of hyperhydrosis, I prefer injections over surgery until the patient either stops responding to the injections or it is no longer covered by their insurance as a medically covered treatment.
Do All Plastic Surgeons Perform Punch Excision?
Acne scar revision
Dec 11, 2011
Before proceeding with any surgical treatment for acne scars it is extremely important to have covered all other possible bases of treatment.

1) Is the acne condition under control or are you still prone to breakouts and cysts?

2) Are you using antibiotics, topical or oral?

3) Is the acne hormone regulated?

4) Have you tried Accutane?

5) What kind of skin care and exfoliants are currently utlized?

6) Any laser treatments tried, BBL,...

Breast Lift versus Breast Augmentation
Lift or Larger?
Dec 8, 2011
Ask yourself if are happy with the size of your bra or would you prefer a larger cup size. If you want a larger cup size then you will need an implant or augmentation. If you are ok with the size but would prefer to be a bit more perky, then a lift might be just right for you. A lift is going to do a lot for drooping or sagging of the breast and an implant is going to add fullness and volume to the breast.
Am I a Candidate for Fat Grafting for Under Eye Hollows?
Tear trough fat grafting
Dec 8, 2011
Indeed this is a difficult problem to fix and there are several options.

1) Implants

2) Fillers such as Restylane and Juvaderm

3) Fat grafts

4) Midface lift

Personally, I prefer to start with fillers and see how the patient responds. If favorable, then a trial of fat grafting may be in order. And as many of the other responders have already mentioned, this is a very difficult area to treat.

Breast Reduction Recovery
Breast reduction complications
Dec 8, 2011
Unfortunately, no surgery can be performed without any risk. However, risks can be minimized with proper preparation and good surgical technique. Smoking is probably the biggest risk factor for scarring and nipple or skin loss. Therefore, don't smoke! Other health concerns like diabetes or high blood pressure should be controlled and your surgeon should have a good understanding of your health history. Overall, complication related to healing should be very...
Should I Have a Second Breast Reduction Surgery?
Breast reduction surgery
Dec 8, 2011
Although not common, it is possible for the breasts to continue to grow and increase size after breast reduction surgery and it is more likely in younger women. Since you are only 7 months out from your original surgery, I would recommend healing for at least one year. Not only does it take time for the tissue to heal, but also for your body image to mature.

Other issues to consider are weight gain. That certainly could impact the size and growth of your breasts....

Is 25 Too Young for a Mini Face Lift?
25 is probably too young
Dec 8, 2011
Depending upon your concerns, other effective treatments may be less invasive than a mini facelift. And with the advent of so many non-invasive treatments, results may be achieved without surgery!
