Liposuction and tummy tuck
I believe you can have a great result from a liposuction and tummy tuck.
Of course if you are still losing weight I would recommend you wait until your weight stabilizes as gaining weight after the surgery will minimize some of the results.
I think if your expectations are realistic you would be happy to proceed knowing that your results may not be the same as someone with a BMI below 25.
Aggressive liposuction as a single staged surgery followed by a tummy tuck 3-6 months later can give you even better results. (Josh Olson, MD, Gilbert Plastic Surgeon)
Am I a good candidate for a liposuction and tummy tuck?
You are certainly a candidate for both tummy tuck and liposuction to other areas which are performed at the same time. Based on your pictures, you will certainly see a dramatic result.
I am so impressed that you lost 35 pounds. Many of my patients are even able to lose more weight after the tummy tuck because the result they get motivates them to stay healthy.
I would continue, if possible, attempting to lose more weight only by eating healthy food and moderate exercise. After 28 years of performing thousands of body contour operations, I certainly know how happy you would be.
These procedures are performed under a general anesthesia at a surgical center. I do keep my patients overnight for better pain control. Drains are used for tummy tucks and are usually removed in 7 to 10 days. There are restrictions for several months but most are up and around within a week or two. You should consult with a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery if you are interested in the procedure. (Robert J. Spies, MD, Paradise Valley Plastic Surgeon)
You are a wonderful candidate for an Extended Tummy Tuck, after losing weight the volume reduces and the skin becomes a bit more flaccid and loose, so definitely losing weight helped. The extension will help to eliminate the saggy skin developed on the outer abdomen. I would recommend a very low incision easy to hide under a bikini, a nice muscle repair to create a very small waist and a bit if liposuction to lower back just to enhance the whole body shape. (Laura Carmina Cardenas, MD, Mexico Plastic Surgeon)
In my opinion, you should lose some more weight before proceeding with surgery. You are a good candidate for a tummy tuck. It could be done now, but you will have a better result if you lose weight. Your risk of complications will also be lower if you lose some additional weight. (Shim Ching, MD, Honolulu Plastic Surgeon)
Your successful weight loss is commendable. Because you are successfully continuing to lose weight, my recommendation would be to continue your weight loss efforts and have another consultation when your weight has been steady for 3-6 months.
It is better to lose the weight before rather than after the procedure. Your results can be diminished if you lose a significant amount of weight after the procedure. The reality is that it is very common for patients who are above their ideal weight to undergo an abdominoplasty procedure. Although this may not be the ideal situation, these patients can still experience the benefits of the procedure and are generally very happy. (Erik Miles, MD, FACS, Charlotte Plastic Surgeon)
Well done on the weight loss. Keep up the good work.Don’t stop now and have a tummy tuck. Keep losing the weight to your ideal weight. Then have the tummy tuck. Otherwise surgery will interrupt your momentum and you risk gaining the weight. (Elizabeth Morgan, MD, PhD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
I would tend to agree with your PS that 100lbs should be the ideal. This will change the distribution of the skin and the final result. It may be that one may have to consider other abdominal rejuvenation procedures once you have lost the weight. (Gary L. Ross, MBChB, FRCS, Manchester Plastic Surgeon)
