Answer Snippet
My bloodwork came back with elevated calcium. Is there a risk in having my TT in 2 weeks?
Hypercalcemia
Oct 27, 2013
It depends how elevated the calcium is. I would talk to your internist regarding this. I recently postponed a surgery for a calcium of 13, and sent the patient to an endocrinologist who found that the patient had hyperparathyroidism, and after his treatment for this, he had a normal calcium and had the plastic surgery. There are other causes of increased calcium, which my anesthesiologist says can lead to anesthetic risks. Hope this helps.
Do I qualify for a full tummy tuck with liposuction?
Tummy Tuck Candidate
Oct 27, 2013
Although I would need to examine you and see some more photo views, you do appear to be a candidate for a tummy tuck and liposuction. Removal of the sagging skin will improve your body contour. Hope this helps.
Tummy tuck lumps 5 months post op?
Lumps after Tummy Tuck
Oct 27, 2013
Lumps following tummy tuck may represent scar tissue, organized hematomas, fat necrosis, uneven liposuction,or even hernias. Because of the fleeting bruises and scan results, I would favor #2 on my list. Small collections will resorb with time; larger ones can be suctioned. Hope this helps.
Would a Tummy Tuck Work for Me?
Tummy Tuck
Oct 12, 2013
Yes, you would benefit from a tummy tuck. Your tattoo would be removed. In fact, most scars and stretch marks under the belly button are often removed. Hope this helps.
Can I Take Anything for Bowel Movement After Tummy Tuck?
Constipation and Tummy Tucks
Oct 12, 2013
Yes, you should take something, either over-the -counter or prescribed, for constipation, or else you may strain, which increases your intraabdominal pressure and cause popping of your muscle plication sutures. Hope this helps.
Is It OK to Just Wait for a Large Seroma to Disappear on Its Own?
Post-Tummy Tuck Seroma
Sep 22, 2013
I drain large postop seromas. Sometimes they recur and need multiple drainages. The goal is to allow the binder to compress the abdominal skin flap down to the fascia(muscle), so that the dead space is obliterated and results in a nicer aesthetic result. I tend to leave in drains for a week to decrease the incidence of seromas. Drainage and compression usually allows the fluid to become less and absorbed. Hope this helps.

Will 400cc's Make an A Cup into a C Cup?
A to C cup
Aug 26, 2013
I would have to examine you to give you an answer, but in my experience of 25 years, a true A cup preop will become a C minus to C cup postop with about 325-350cc and a c plus cup with about 375-400 cc, depending on how much breast tissue you have to start. the 400's start getting into the D range. Hope this helps.
How Common After a Full Tummy Tuck is Liposuction?
Liposuction & Tummy Tuck
Aug 26, 2013
Your surgeon is being conservative, but safe. While some plastic surgeons are more aggressive with defatting the abdominal flap at the initial surgery, this can cause embarrassment of the blood supply and skin death. So, to achieve an even nicer result, it is not unusual to do some liposuction in a staged fashion. Hope this helps.

Liposuction on an Already Thin Patient.. Just a Little Amount of Fat Around Abdomen?
Liposuction in the Thin Patient
Aug 24, 2013
I have many thin patients from the gym, who are in very good shape, but have fat deposits, called lipodystrophy, that are diet and exercise-resistant. Minimal liposuction is the best treatment for this. Hope this helps.

Dent Between Waist and Hip. How to Fix It?
Waistline Dent
Aug 24, 2013
The area can be improved to a more smooth transition with combined minimal liposuction and using that under the dent as a graft. Hope this helps.

Do You Think I Need a Mini or Full Tummy Tuck and Do You Think my Tattoo Can Be Removed Along with I
tummy tuck & tattoo
Aug 3, 2013
You are best served to have a full tummy tuck because of the amount of skin laxity. A mini is basically liposuction with a small amount of skin excision. Most scars, stretch marks, moles, & tattoos that lie below a line drawn across the top of the belly-button can be removed. Most of yours, but maybe not all, can be removed. Hope this helps.

Does Insurance Cover Hernia Repair with Tummy Tuck?
hernia repair & insurance
Jun 1, 2013
Yes, a hernia repair is covered by your insurance when combined with a tummy tuck. The cosmetic tummy tuck portion of the procedure is not. The plastic surgeon will expose the hernia for the surgeon who is doing the repair(usually a general surgeon or the plastic surgeon if he has been trained and has privileges in hernia repair), and then the plastic surgeon will close with the abdominoplasty(tummy tuck). The surgeon performing the hernia repair should get...
Is Abdominal Swelling After Breast Augmentation Normal?
Abdominal Swelling After Breast Augmentation
Mar 17, 2013
As the swelling in the breasts subside, gravity can cause the swelling fluid to fall into the upper abdominal area until this also reabsorbs. When a forehead lift is done, the upper eyelids often swell postop as the forehead swelling falls. Hope this helps.
I Am on Amoxcillin for a Chest Infection and I Have Had a Botox Injection in Forehead. Is This Ok?
Infection & Botox
Mar 17, 2013
As long as your infection is not in the area of injection, you may proceed with Botox treatment. Hope this helps.
What Are The Risks Of Fat Grafting or Silicone Implants?
Fat Grafting vs. Implants
Mar 17, 2013
There are pros and cons with each. Implants give predictable , symmetrical upper pole fullness you seem to be looking for; however, rupture & capsular contracture are always possible. Fat grafts can absorb and cause assymetry or form fat necrosis or calcifications that may look suspicious on mammograms, leading to biopsies. Hope this helps.
