I still have muscle spasms after breast reconstruction. How can I stop these from happening?
Latissimus flap
Jun 7, 2017
Sorry to hear about your issue with muscle spasms. Generally, when we perform latissimus flap breast reconstruction, we will try to denervate the muscle by dividing the nerve to the latissimus muscle. This helps to prevent animation and muscle spasm in the reconstructed breast. If the muscle spasm you are experiencing is in your breast where the latissimus muscle has been relocated to, it might be best to consult with your plastic surgeon and inquire about a surgery to...
9 days after BA one breast is hard, bigger and sitting higher. What's going on?
Post-operative swelling
Jun 7, 2017
It sounds as though you have already been evaluated by your surgeon. Hopefully this is all just normal post-operative swelling that will improve with time. 9 days is very early to tell anything. One possible concern would be that you have a sizable hematoma of the left breast leading to the asymmetric swelling, discomfort, and bruising. If just a small hematoma, observation is an option but you will be at a higher risk for capsular contracture down the road...
Asymmetrical eyes: Right eye lid is droopy, left lid has multiple creases, would Botox fix this? Or do
Eyelid asymmetry
Jun 7, 2017
Botox will not help to fix the issue in your case. We generally do not use Botox to correct any issues with the upper eyelid -- one side effect of injecting Botox too close to the upper eyelid is causing it to appear droopy.
Although it is difficult to tell for sure, you may have an element of blepharoptosis that is causing the asymmetry in your eyelids. The fix for that would be surgical to reattach or shorten the upper eyelid levator muscle. Your best bet would be to see...
Does AlloDerm attach itself to inside of breast and implant. Can I rotate my implant by manipulation t
Alloderm and rippling
Jun 7, 2017
Thanks for your question. In general, Alloderm will incorporate and grow into your your breast tissue. It does not attach itself to the breast implant. Rotating your breast implant will not fix any rippling. Usually, rippling is a result of either the implant pocket being too big or the breast implant being too small. This can be fixed through a few options: changing the implant, revising the implant capsule/pocket, or fat grafting to help mask the...
Uneven breasts and nipples after breast lift and augmentation. Can it be fixed?
Wait a few months
May 1, 2017
Thanks for your question and photos. I would say that so far, everything looks great from a glance at the photos. 1 month is still very early in the healing process. It can take several months before you can appreciate the final result as the implants settle out, swelling completely resolves, and the tissue relaxes.

Just be patient and keep following up closely with your surgeon, who can best advise you. Also remember that not very many people have...

What would be the minimum number of Botox units could I get in the forehead region just to see how I m
Don't worry
Apr 24, 2017
The good news is that Botox only works temporarily. It should not last more than 3-4 months at most. Therefore, if you didn't like the effect - don't do it again.

That being said, you could probably get by with a "try out" of about 5-10 units to at least soften those forehead lines. The sensation after getting Botox done for the first time is difficult to explain and put into words. I have never had anyone compare it to feeling like a brick. I would...

Lower blepharoplasty and rhinoplasty combo: Is this just normal swelling or have I been completely dis
Swelling can be normal
Apr 23, 2017
10 days is way too soon to be worried about the appearance after lower blepharoplasty and rhinoplasty. Often times, the results are not considered final until perhaps 6-8 months thereafter depending on how much work was done (i.e. performing osteotomies on the nose or fat removal for the eyelid). However, that is not to say that there will be significant swelling that whole time. Most of the swelling should have gone down by 1 month and then the changes thereafter will...
Is a micro laser peel and a profractional treatment safe on type 3 and 4 skin?
Sciton skin resurfacing
Apr 23, 2017
Thanks for your question. I have done both MicroLaserPeel and ProFractional in skin types III/IV without any issues - and have had good success/results. You just have to be careful and may need more treatments at a less aggressive depth or coverage. It may also be a good idea to pretreat with hydroquinone to help prevent any post-treatment hyperpigmentation.
It would be best to consult with your doctor who can examine you and give a more specific and tailored answer....
Tummy tuck vs mini tummy tuck?
Tummy tuck?
Apr 23, 2017
Thanks for the photos. A look at them tells me that a full tummy tuck would probably serve you best. There seems to be a little bit of loose skin right above your belly button and that would not change with a mini tummy tuck. In general, the patients who would be good candidates and happy with a mini tummy tuck have issues only with the area right above their pubic region.

I would schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your...

How can I remove these stretch marks and skin, please?
Abdominoplasty would be perfect
Apr 23, 2017
Thanks for the photo. And congrats on the excellent work losing so much weight! From the appearance in your photo, you would be an excellent candidate for a full tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). This would help to remove all of the wrinkly loose skin (and stretch marks) between your belly button and your pubic area. Depending on how much skin excess there is, some of the stretch marks above the belly button may be removed as well. I do not think that you...

Call your surgeon ASAP
Apr 23, 2017
Thank you for the picture. I would be concerned about the blood flow to your belly button. Although there may not be much that can be done at this instant, you should contact your plastic surgeon ASAP.
Doctor said I don't need blood work because I'm under 50?
Depends
Apr 23, 2017
In general, if you are healthy and do not take any medicines, then blood work may not be required. Each patient is different. Furthermore, each hospital or facility has different requirements for preoperative testing. That being said, I will usually order a complete blood count for my abdominoplasty patients.
5.5 weeks post TT and muscle repair - still can't come close to buttoning my pre TT jeans.
Have some patience
Apr 23, 2017
Swelling after abdominoplasty is very common, especially in the lower central portion. This can last for a few months, although most of it should have subsided in the first several weeks. It can be worse if liposuction was done at the same time. It seems as though your surgeon has already checked to make sure there are no fluid collections, so I would just be patient and give it some time. Best of luck!
Would I qualify for a tummy tuck - have to get a breast reduction.
Generally, no
Apr 23, 2017
You will feel great after having the breast reduction. As for the tummy tuck, insurance companies do not cover this and consider it cosmetic. However, they may cover what is called a panniculectomy - a procedure to remove any excess lower abdominal skin that may be causing rashes, etc. Although it is not a tummy tuck, it can also help to somewhat improve the appearance of your lower abdomen. Good luck with your surgery!
Holes in my areola. Is this OK almost 2 weeks post op?
Contact your surgeon
Apr 23, 2017
What your photos show is some mild separation of the incision. This should be monitored carefully. As long as the separation is just at the skin level and not deeper so as to communicate with the implant, it should heal with local wound care and time.
I would make sure your surgeon is aware of this new development so that they can monitor the healing progress and possibly start you on antibiotics or recommend a specific dressing change.
