A significant factor in predicting the result of a breast augmentation is the pre-surgical soft tissue state. The thinner the soft tissues- skin/breast tissue/fat- the more the implant will be visible and palpable. Having said that, an under the muscle placement may conceal the implant better in the upper pole. After Kybella, it is to be expected that there will be some swelling and bruising. This inflammation is secondary to the medication – Kybella, reacting with the fat cells. We have our patients wear a chin strap (at home) for a few days to help control the swelling. They can go about their schedule, although we advise them not to do heavy workouts/bending for a few days.

After mastectomy, the remaining skin may be really thin and Alloderm can be used to reinforce this. It can also be used to add support to the expander and/or implant used in reconstruction. There are two main considerations in this setting- the amount of general anesthesia time mainly, and secondary, the amount of liposuction volume. Any surgery has risks and increased operative time increases that. There are also some limitations on the amount one can remove during a single liposuction setting in an OUTPATIENT setting and the higher the volume, the more this procedure should be done as an in patient.
