Want multiple face and body procedures, can they be combined in one anesthesia?
Combo Procedure
Aug 26, 2022
Hello!
Generally speaking it is not uncommon to combine procedures such as these to be done at once. The concern I would have with combining all of what you are requesting is the time required under general anesthesia. This is a case that is going to take more than 8 hours and many anesthesiologists would advise against being anesthetized for that long. It may require being done at a hospital which increases both the cost and the risk of post surgical infection. I would consult with a Board...
Is 6.5 hours for a mommy makeover the amount of time I will be under anesthesia?
Anesthesia
Aug 26, 2022
Hello!
All surgeons work at different paces. Some can do a mommy makeover in 5 hours, some will require more like 8 or 9 hours. Our board certified anesthesiologists prefer patients to stay under 6 hours of general anesthesia in an outpatient setting. They will push to 8 depending on patient health and surgical circumstances. Anything over that we will almost always need to be done in a hospital or require transfer to a hospital after for recovery.
Best of luck!Dr. Tom Korkos
Am I a candidate for a mommy makeover surgery?
Mommy Makeover
Aug 25, 2022
Hello!
To echo what others have said, in order to have optimal results you are really going to want to lose about 50 pounds first. Surgery can technically be performed but I think you're really going to be unhappy with what you see for what you've spent. I would suggest a physician supervised weight loss program first that can help you to healthily lose the weight then come in for a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

7 months out and not happy - what to do now?
Unhappy Results
Aug 25, 2022
Hi Donna!
It's hard to tell what you are referring to from your photo, which focuses more on the breasts than the abdomen. If skin laxity is the issue then I would agree with your latter surgeon, liposuction will generally not help to improve that.
My best advice is to explain to your current surgeon exactly what you were hoping to see vs what you are currently seeing and ask him/her how to best address it. If he/she is completely unwilling to see it from your point of view then I would...
17 days pre-op - I smoked a cigarette. Am I going to be ok?
Nicotine Test
Aug 25, 2022
Hello!
The tests that we use generally go back 10 days. Your office may use different tests that can go back further.
The best thing to do would be to contact your office, inform them, and ask them what to do. We are much more flexible if our patients are upfront and honest than if you try to deceive us.
Best of luck!Dr. Tom Korkos
Recovery time Mommy Makeover - would I be able to attend a wedding in February if I get surgery in
Mommy Makeover Recovery
Aug 25, 2022
Hello!
Barring any unforeseen complications, which is always a potential risk, you should be fine to attend a wedding in February if you have your surgery in late Nov/Early December. I tell patients 4 weeks before they're comfortable again, 6 weeks before they can start activity.
Best of luck!Dr. Tom Korkos
Having a mommy makeover - when should I have stopped the Mili birth control?
BC pre-operative
Aug 25, 2022
Hello!
Every surgeon will have their own protocol so check with your physician or his/her nurse. At our office we stop patients 14 days pre-operatively.
Best of luck!Dr. Tom Korkos
Can nurses perform a BBL?
RN BBL
Aug 24, 2022
Hello,
Each state may have different regulations and extent to which an RN can perform a specific procedure. I'd consult with your individual state's board of nursing to get a definitive answer. Here in WI a medspa was recently shut down for attempting to perform office based surgery as it was out of their scope of practice.
Nurses are permitted to assist in surgical procedures but that should be with a surgeon performing the procedure as well. The extent by which the nurse can assist is...
What is the chance of dying while getting a breast reduction?
Chances of Death
Aug 24, 2022
Hello!
From a pure statistical standpoint, the attached report analyzed numerous studies and found a mortality rate of 3 out of 104,565 cases for a pure risk of .00002%. You can read more about that at the link below. To put that into perspective, you have a .00006% chance of being struck by lightning. So you are 3x more likely to be struck by lightning than to die of a breast reduction.
That said, there are many factors that can impact how successful your surgery will be including weight,...
Fair skin, female - what can I do to lessen the appearance of white acne scars on my chest? (Photo
Hypopigmentation Scars
Aug 24, 2022
Hello!
I'd recommend CO2 Fraxel laser treatment. There is clinical evidence (below) that supports CO2 Fraxel treatment to help improve hypopigmentation like you are experiencing.
You can try other options such as Microneedling, chemical peels, and Rentin-A which can also yield results, but I'd stick with what we know works and go with the laser treatment.
Best of luck!Dr. Tom Korkos
Skinny BBL - will I still natural movement if I get this procedure?
BBL
Aug 24, 2022
Hello!
You look to be a very good candidate for a BBL. Liposuction of the abdomen and flanks could help to give you a more hourglass shape and we could certainly inject that fat into the hips and buttocks. Hip dips are a difficult area to keep fat in so I would warn you that your results may not be perfect or the longest lasting, but you certainly should see improvement.
Best of luck!Dr. Tom Korkos
Is it possible to get a combination procedure of nose and breast implants?
Combo Procedure
Aug 24, 2022
Hello!
Yes, this is absolutely possible. We do combo procedures all the time in our office. The benefits are reduced costs because it often requires less overall OR and anesthesia time as well as a combined recovery so you are not missing two separate periods of time off work.
The biggest concern I would have is whether the Rhinoplasty is going to require the assistance of an ENT. If so that may make scheduling difficult. Recovery may be more painful as you are feeling the effects of longer...
Too young for a facelift? 33 years old
Neck Surgery
Aug 21, 2022
Hello! I agree with others in saying that a full neck lift is probably not necessary. Non-invasive skin tightening like RF Microneedling or similar treatments could help. We also offer MyEllevate which is a thread based neck lift that is combined with liposuction for somewhere in the $5,000 range. Results are not as long term as a neck lift but they do provide noticeable results. Kybella and some jaw line filler could also help give you a more defined neck/jawline area.
Best of luck!Dr. Tom...
Botox and filler while taking wellbutrin?
Wellbutrin & Botox
Aug 21, 2022
Hello!
There are no adverse effects of taking Wellbutrin with Botox injections, so you are free to proceed. Avoid blood thinning NSAID's like Advil or Ibuprofen on the day of treatment as they may lead to an increased risk of bruising.
Good luck!Dr. Tom Korkos
Steps to Breast Reduction?
Breast Reduction
Aug 21, 2022
Hello!
The first thing I would recommend doing is contacting your insurance to see whether breast reductions are covered by your plan. In today's healthcare environment, more and more insurances are carving out breast reductions as covered procedures. You can also ask them at that time whether you first need to see your PCP or can visit a specialist directly. Many HMO plans will require the former while PPO plans are ok with you visiting a surgeon directly. From there you can set up your...
