Are alar batten grafts cosmetically noticeable?
Batten Grafts
Dec 28, 2014
The answer to your question depends upon the degree of collapse of your valve, whether it is just functionally impaired or if it is visually contracted also. A spreader graft can open the valve on the affected side and also restore contour on the contracted side and it can be done on one side only. A batten graft, on the other hand, is usually done on both sides for balance.I hope this helps. Good luck
How perky can I make my breasts while getting the size reduced?
Perky Breasts
Sep 30, 2014
If you are a nonsmoker and reasonably healthy, you should definitely be able to achieve not only smaller breasts with the reduction but tighter and perkier ones as well. Ask your surgeon about his level of comfort with performing a “central mound” pedicle reduction, which will allow you to have more fullness in the upper portion of your breasts while permitting the extra gland and fat from the lower and outer portion of your breast to be removed. I expect you will be very pleased with the…
Is it ok to get a Tummy Tuck one month after having a c-section?
Timing of an Abdominoplasty Following C-Section
Sep 3, 2014
While opinions may vary, I believe that having an abdominoplasty one month following C-Section is unwise for a variety of reasons. I usually recommend waiting 6 months. There are hormonal shifts that might affect healing, there are issues concerning the care of your newborn during your first postoperative week or two which might adversely affect your result, and you are unlikely to be able to be at bed rest for the first 7-10 days if you have a newborn, even with domestic help or a family…
Does this Tummy Tuck scar look okay?
Concerned about Scar
Aug 9, 2014
Your scar looks fine and you appear to be healing very well. Just remember to protect against sun exposure and use either olive oil or Aquaphor daily to keep it from drying. You’re going to look great! Good luck.

Small opening in wound
Aug 9, 2014
The process of closing a mastopexy (breast lift) wound consists of several layers or repair with fine sutures. While it is possible that a superficial skin suture opened up, the deep layer is most likely fine. If yo have no fluid coming out of the wound “hole”, and no redness or pain, I think you should be fine. Of course, if any of these signs or symptoms occurs, you should contact your plastic surgeon right away. It looks like you are going to have an awesome result! Good luck.
When would you let your patient start running after a Tummy Tuck? Why do you have to wait this time?
Running after Abdominoplasty
Jul 10, 2014
Assuming you did not have excessive drainage from your JP drains and that you had no accumulation of fluid in the first week following removal of your drains, then 6 weeks should be a good time for you to resume running. But I would recommend you wear a compressive garment while doing so to avoid the shearing forces which can result in development of a seroma, which is a fluid collection between your skin flap and the muscle layer. Start slow! I hope this helps.
I’m considering Liposuction & Brazilian Butt Lift. I’ve been told I may need Tummy Tuck. What is ben
Benefits of a Tummy Tuck
Jul 9, 2014
The photo is rather dark so it is difficult to see any evidence of skin excess or laxity. But, in general, a tummy tuck will not only allow for the removal of fat (which can be used to perform the Brazilian Butt Lift), but it can also provide for tightening of the abdominal wall and pulling down and removal of the excess skin. With liposuction alone, this is not possible and you may be left with skin laxity and wrinkling which would not be attractive or beneficial to you. I hope this…
What stage is this in the necrosis healing process? What should I expect to see between now & it bei
Wound Healing question
Jul 7, 2014
It looks from the photo like you are healing just fine. There is a slight wound separation at the base of the “T” but there does not seem to be any loss of tissue (necrosis) and your breast should heal well. I estimate that within 3 months this will look great! I hope this helps.
I have a cyst in my right breast can I still get a Breast Augmentation?
Breast Cyst
Jul 7, 2014
The presence of a breast cyst should be of no consequence and you can safely undergo a breast augmentation. Depending upon the location of the cyst, it might even be possible for your surgeon to remove it at the same time as he inserts your implants. This way you will not be bothered (or your mammogram affected) by this recurring breast tissue in the years to come. Mention it to your plastic surgeon. I hope this helps.

Columella off the midline
Jun 30, 2014
It is difficult to say from the photo you posted, but most likely the lower part of your septum lies slightly to the left of the midline. From this “worms eye view” it might be noticeable but from a direct frontal view it is probably minimally evident. Correction of this would require an open procedure where the deviated portion of your septum is divided from the bone of your maxilla and sutured in the midline. Once the position of the cartilage is corrected, the overlying skin should follow…
What Implant placement provides the best Lift without Mastoplexy, over muscle or under?
Over vs. Under the muscle
Jun 30, 2014
I agree with your plastic surgeon that you do not need a lift. But I disagree with the size he is recommending. Based on your photos, you will need a minimum volume of 350 cc (moderate plus profile) to correct the loss of volume in your breasts. I might even recommend 375-400 cc. And I would recommend placing the implants beneath the muscle due to the lower incidence of a few complications associated with placement above the muscle (subglandular). That would be my personal preference but you…
Can a Breast Lift of Tummy Tuck help ease Dislocating Rib Syndrome? Can I be covered by insurance? (
Insurance coverage of a Tummy Tuck
Jun 29, 2014
Very doubtful. An abdominoplasty is a cosmetic operation and so is a breast lift. It is increasingly difficult to obtain coverage of truly medically necessary operations to treat functionally debilitating conditions, and while you will certainly look better with a “mommy makeover”, you should expect to cover the entire costs out of pocket.
Do these “before” augmentation photos look similar to mine? What results can I expect from Augmentat
Augmentation without a lift
Jun 29, 2014
From the photos you posted, you appear to have what is called “pseudootosis” which means your breasts have the appearance of slight droopiness but that is not actually the case. You have lost volume but the position of your nipple and areolar complex seems to be above the level of the fold beneath your breast. You can try the “pencil test” (google it!) to confirm my opinion. That means the implants will restore the volume and make your breasts look very nice without a lift. Perhaps your…

Tummy Tuck Question
Jun 29, 2014
I am assuming that you do not plan to have more children. If you still have this in your family plan, then I would advise waiting 9 months after your last child is born. Otherwise, you should aim to reach your weight goal without the use of any diet pills or fad diets. Just cutting out wheat and moderate exercise such as vigorous walking for 30 minutes every day should bring you to this weight goal within another 6 months at the latest. With that preface, you are a great candidate for a…
My nostrils incision scars are visible. Is scar revision necessary?
Alar Base Scar Revision
Jun 29, 2014
With each subsequent revision, a small additional amount of skin will have to be removed and consequently the nostrils may become smaller. I feel that this potential deformity might be worse than the scars depicted in the photos. One possible treatment, other than waiting another 6 months or so, might be to treat the area with a pixel erbium laser, which can smooth the scar and the adjacent skin and make it look less obvious. I would not recommend a third revision at this point. I hope this…
