During surgery, air gets into the pocket around the implants. This can cause a squeaking noise or a "rice crispie" feel to the skin in the upper chest. This will go away as the body resorbs the air. With saline implants, there can be air in the implant if it was not all sucked out at the time of implantation. This air will also be resorbed, but it takes longer.

The lip implants massage themselves when you talk, eat, smile, frown, etc., and this is usually enough to keep the capsule that forms around them from contracting. Everyone is different, however, so ask your surgeon if you need to do this - you may be particularly prone to capsule contracture.

Permalip implants are quite safe, and are well tolerated. Sometimes patients even forget that they have them, particularly with the smallest size (3 mm). They give long-lasting augmentation of the lip size. The great thing is that if you do someday have a problem with them of any kind, they can quickly and easily be removed and the problem will do away with them.

Red wine has a mild blood thinning effect, so will increase the chance of bruising. We generally recommend that patients avoid it around the time of surgery for a few days, but ask your doctor.
