Puss ooze after tummy tuck
Day 9 post op tummy tuck. Nurse noticed red area after removing dressing yesterday. This afternoon started to ooze puss. Swab sent. Anyone else had this happen ?

Holy cow. Take it easy. Did they give you antibiotics?
Yes. Happened to me about 10 days post tummy tuck operation. Got an infection. Had to have my drain put back in (taken out on day 6) and IV antibiotics.
No antibiotics at the moment Emily. Just had a swab sent away. I feel ok at the moment but if I feel unwell I have to go to casualty. Could just be a little pocket of puss which will clear up on it’s own. Fingers crossed . I never had any drains in at all.
Does it smell?? Mine was really bad and that’s how I knew something was wrong…
Yep…leg and arm. I had a culture done of both. Hope it is not a resistant strain. My skin turned black.
Not to gross anyone out but….my dressing changes looked and oozed the above.
No smell coming from it Rachel, and the red area is appears to be shrinking . So it’s going in the right direction I think. Hopefully swab result will be back on Tuesday on time for my second appointment as I live quite far away from where I had my op done but luckily my local practice is giving me full support

Little update , I have changed dressing as needed over last 15 hours. The amount of seeping fluid is getting smaller and the red area on skin reducing . Hope everyone else is continuing to heal well
Yes I did it creates a seroma and tge built up . fluid pushes through
