Tummy tuck after pictures
Doctor doesn’t show tummy tuck after pictures. Should I be concerned?
There are privacy issues which prevent me from showing many of my before and after pictures, but I still have a representative mix available of several dozen or so tummy tucks. I think it is only fair to have some examples to evaluate. (Kenneth B. Hughes, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
Everyone in the country faces the same legal and ethical privacy issues and we all show tummy tuck photos of unidentified patients and only after those patients have signed a legal release for us to show them. See another surgeon or two before undergoing the procedure. (Ronald V. DeMars, MD, Portland Plastic Surgeon)
I would want to see something. I do think privacy is important but we all have patients that will allow us to use their tummy tuck after pictures. Just do your research, talk to other patients and make sure they are happy. Make sure he is a board certified plastic surgeon. Seek several consults from different people so you can compare offices and staff, and maybe get to see some photos. Can’t hurt to look around. (Richard J. Brown, MD, Scottsdale Plastic Surgeon)
Yes, you should be concerned. Most surgeons are able to get formal consents from patients to have their pre and tummy tuck after pictures shown to prospective patients or share these photos on the web, without revealing the patient’s identity. See a board certified plastic surgeon for another opinion.
From the limited view photo, you could be a good candidate for a tummy tuck and liposuction, but you need to be seen in person for a consultation/evaluation to decide what would give you the best result. (George Marosan, MD, Bellevue Plastic Surgeon)
Not to fault the other MD but if you are considering surgery and have any concerns then go on other consults and make comprisions. Remember yu want to have complete confidence in your surgeon. (Frederic H. Corbin, MD, Brea Plastic Surgeon)
This isn’t necessarily a problem, privacy concerns are very significant these days and a lot of people would rather just err on the side of caution. You should definitely seek word of mouth referrals on this surgeon however, and they should have some patients who are willing to talk about their experiences. Ask for patients with good results and not-so-good results as well.
No surgeon can have perfect results 100% of the time so you want to talk to someone who has had a complication so you can be sure that your surgeon will be there for you in good times and bad. These are a few things to look out for when choosing a surgeon and none of them should be a problem on their own. However, if your surgeon is well established that they should have photos and references, but refuses to provide them and tries to tell you they’ve never had a complication then that is something you should find concerning. (Mathew A. Plant, MD, FRCSC, Toronto Plastic Surgeon)
There are a few reasons why a surgeon may not show photos. One is that they haven’t been in practice long enought to have some long term tummy tuck after pictures. The other is that their patients all have tatoos or identifying features that could help pick them out of a crowd. Some surgeons do not show pictures of their face lifts because in a small town you may know the person. Other than that, I would be a little concerned. (Jeffrey Gusenoff, MD, Pittsburgh Plastic Surgeon)
Usually there are not significant privacy issues showing abdominoplasty results. It certainly raises some question as to why they are not showing results from patients. It is always difficult to advise a particular surgical plan based on a single photograph but I would imagine that given your description of loose skin that you could benefit from a full abdominoplasty. (David Mathes, MD, Aurora Plastic Surgeon)
There is very little “privacy” in a tummy tuck photo to protect. I would be suspicious of why, if the doctor had great results, they wouldn’t want to show you lots of photos. (Richard P. Rand, MD, FACS, Raleigh-Durham Plastic Surgeon)
It is imperative to see before and after photos before surgery. Each patient should be photographed from multiple perspectives. Of course viewing before and after images is just a first step in selecting a plastic surgeon. But it is an important step. that cannot be skipped. (Michael Law, MD)
A Tummy tuck is a procedure which probably the majority of surgeons perform, but in my humble opinion you have to base your decision on her/his results, experience and previous reviews from other patients rather than his/her staff. And very important if is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
You have to evaluate as a great result: incision neat and low, flat abdomen, tapered waist, small feminine navel and a complete beautiful curvy result.Your photo is not good to tell if you are TT candidate. Dr. Cardenas (Laura Carmina Cardenas, MD, Mexico Plastic Surgeon)
