Lose weight gain first?
I think that with the tummy tuck being one of the propose surgeries, that it is best to get to the weight you can stay at without struggling before the surgery.
Doing that will allow any muscle tightening and skin removal to be maximized. Weight loss after the surgery would also affect the lift so the are two reasons to be withing 5 pounds of your target weight. (Julio Garcia, MD, Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon)
Lose the weight before
Definitely lose the weight before surgery. Otherwise, you are compromising your potential results. Keep losing the weight and you will be happy you did things in the right order! (J. Garrett Harper, MD, Charlotte Plastic Surgeon)
Weight loss for procedure
I always recommend my patients be at their ideal body weight prior to surgery in order to get the best possible results. (Kathy Rumer, DO, Philadelphia Plastic Surgeon)
Weight loss before surgery?
It never hurts to lose a little weight before surgery if you are planning to lose the weight anyway, and can keep it off. It looks like you might do best with a circumferentioal tummy tuck.
Depending upon what you do you might ndo best with separating the the two different procedures.(Ronald Schuster, MD, Baltimore Plastic Surgeon)
Weight loss prior to surgery
When considering a body contouring procedure like a tummy tuck or liposuction you should achieve your ideal body weight. This cam mean different things for different patients. You should have not lost or gained a significant amount of weight recently, but be at your ideal weight for a period of time.
This time frame is within certain amount for a several month period. Consider working closely with your plastic surgeon’s staff and MD to obtain an ideal time to go ahead (Frank J. Ferraro, MD, Paramus Plastic Surgeon)
Ideal weight
You should be weight stable and at your ideal weight before you have this combination. It can be done but the results will be better if you wait. (Gary L. Ross, MBChB, FRCS, Manchester Plastic Surgeon)
Breast and Body Contouring Surgery in one surgery
Simultaneous breast and body contouring surgery is often done together in healthy candidates. Patient safety is of utmost importance. Risk increases with increasing body mass index (30 or above, yours is 29), medical problems, smoking history, and length of general anesthesia time.
Without a personal assessment it is difficult to tell you what I would recommend doing in one surgical setting. However, based on your photos, and being an efficient surgeon, I would say you probably need 2 stages of surgery, regardless of whether or not you loose weight.
When we do body contouring surgery such as tummy tuck and liposuction, it is important to have a stable weight that is realistic for you so that the results are stable over time. If you gain weight after surgery, fat can come back. I recommend weight loss for patients with a body mass index over 30. (Hayley Brown, MD, Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon)
